Islanders' Tavares signs with Swiss club

New York Islanders center John Tavares signed a contract with Swiss club Bern, the team announced Friday. Tavares, the No. 1 pick of the 2009 NHL Draft, is expected to begin training with his Swiss club on Wednesday. Tavares, 22, played in his first All-Star Game last season. He collected 81 points in 82 games during 2011-12.
