According to his Twitter account, Michael Del Zotto became the third Ranger to have surgery this offseason. It does not sound like his injury was as serious as the torn labrums suffered by Ryan Callahan and Carl Hagelin though. Since the type of surgery is unknown, and the team has not formally announced anything, a timetable for a return has not been provided. Tweet

Del Zotto Had Surgery Today

Michael Del Zotto tweeted that he had a "long morning of surgery" today. He adds that he will be back in top shape in no time. While the Rangers had announced surgeries for Ryan Callahan and Carl Hagelin, there have been no mentions of Del Zotto going under the knife. ...oooooohhhhhhh, no wonder he played so poorly in the playoffs. His mental gaffes obviously...

It’s more likely that the Rangers will sign stopgap UFA forwards than big names

The Rangers should be keeping a seat warm for Oscar Lindberg. Every year as free agency approaches Ranger fans spend most of their time talking about the big fish, the top five or so guys available.  We’ve kind of been trained to do that thanks to the free-spending ways of GM Glen Sather, but it’s also only natural to think about the impact that recognizable players might be...

Rangers Begin Contract Talks With McDonagh

The Latest On The New York Rangers’ Coaching Hunt

from Larry Brooks of the NY Post, The leader in the clubhouse would be Alain Vigneault. That, of course, excludes the other leader in the clubhouse named Mark Messier. This is the state of the Rangers’ search for a coach that paused yesterday following Vigneault’s visit on Tuesday with general manager Glen Sather and front office personnel at the club’s organizational...

Sauer to Retire?

During a live chat over at Blueshirts United on Wednesday, host Jim Cerny responded to a question regarding Michael Sauer's (post concussion symptoms) future now that he's a RFA... "I'd be curious to see if Michael Sauer announces his retirement or not...he wouldn't have while still under contract last year, of course, but now as a RFA he just might."...

Adam Oates Still Isn't Over Losing to Rangers in Playoffs

In an exclusive interview with Chuck Gormley of CSN Washington, Capitals head coach Adam Oates opened up about his first season as a head choch, including losing to the Rangers in the playoffs. And it must be said: it sounds like a bunch of finger pointing and complaining. On the series against the Rangers... '' I think we played pretty good hockey for six-and a-half...

According to Dan Rosen at NHL.com, Mark Messier has confirmed that he's been interviewed by the Rangers for their head coach vacancy.... "Yes, of course," Messier told NHL.com when asked Friday at United Center if he has formally interviewed with Rangers president and general manager Glen Sather. "That was one thing I wanted to have happen, to go through the...

If Rangers Want Vigneault They Better Move Quick

As I posted Sunday, Glen Sather really needs to add a little pep to his step if he doesn't want another top head coaching candidate to sign elsewhere. According to Darren Dreger at TSN, after his interview with the Rangers yesterday, Alaine Vigneault is expected to re-connect with the Dallas Stars in the next few days. The former Canucks head coach is considered a top choice...

Vigneault rumored to become the Rangers next head coach

On the same night news surfaced that Alain Vigneault was in New York today to meet with Jimmy Dolan, news also broke that Vigneault has turned down the head coaching job in Dallas. While there hasn’t been any official word from the organization, many of the usual suspects in the media (e.g., Larry Brooks, John Shannon, Bob McKenzie, etc.) have put two and two together and are expecting...

Potential UFA target: David Clarkson

The Rangers have been burned by ex-Devils before, but that’s not what should keep them away from David Clarkson We all know that converted Devils haven’t made for the best Rangers. It’s an inescapable trend, but it would also be foolish for the team to make decisions based on past history rather than judging what individual players bring to the table. So with that said, GM...

An End to 54 Years of Futility

“The waiting is over! The New York Rangers are the Stanley Cup champions! And this one will last a lifetime!” Those were the words of long time New York Rangers TV play by play man, Sam Rosen, when the team outlasted the Vancouver Canucks in an exciting seven game series to determine who would be [...]
