This retooling year could be Daniel Alfredssons last year in his hockey career, Alfie who is the face of the franchise. Jason Spezza and Milam Michalek have established themselves as prime 1st line players. Nick Foligno is now finding his scoring touch and is chipping in offensively this season; he makes a great 2nd line forward. Kyle Turris is a great 2nd line center with a powerful shot that blows goalies away, get him the puck in a free lane and I guarantee he scores. Master of the PIM: Zenon Konopka

If you're a serious fantasy hockey player you're probably pretty familiar with Zenon Konopka. If you're not, you might be wondering why we would dedicate an entire article to the forward from Ottawa.  Konopka is known for two things and two things alone - dropping the gloves and sitting in the box. For the knowledgeable fantasy player, Konopka is a legend when it comes...

'Rebuild' Is Such a Dirty Word... Except When It Isn't

With the Senators in the midst of their first six-game losing streak this season, the best defense that is being played in Ottawa these days is the utilization of the phrase, ‘Meh, the Senators are just a rebuilding team’. Fortunately for the Senators, they’ve accumulated such a point cushion – through their sheer volume of games played and an 8-0-1 record from December...

Michalek 'one of luckiest people' to reach milestone

For Milan Michalek, every day is a great day for hockey. With apologies to 'Badger' Bob Johnson — the former National Hockey League coach who lived that saying every day — it might also apply to the sentiment Michalek will surely fe...

Travis Yost: Gameday: The Streak Stops Today - Right?

Make sure to follow Travis on Twitter and Facebook! -- Embattled in a six-game losing streak, the Ottawa Senators have been searching long and hard for answers. The offense has been stymied with regularity; the defense as egregiously charitable as it has been all season long. And, even Craig Anderson appears to be cooling off at the worst of times. In the middle of a playoff...

Blues upend Senators 3-1

OTTAWA (AP) -- Brian Elliott didn't have the success he would have liked with the Ottawa Senators. On Tuesday, he was almost perfect against them. David Perron scored twice and Elliott made 28 saves in his regular-season return to Ottawa and the St. Louis Blues handed the Senators their seventh straight loss, 3-1. Elliott was traded to the Colorado Avalanche prior to...

Predators-Senators Preview

During his 10-plus seasons with the Ottawa Senators, Mike Fisher was a fan favorite who was instrumental to their Stanley Cup finals run five years ago. He was an adept goal scorer, but never scored as proficiently as he is now for the Nashville Predators. Fisher makes his return to Ottawa almost a year to the day he was traded when the Predators face the struggling Senators on...

Senators getting back to basics in bid to break skid

They know exactly what it took to get to this place. More of the same, the Ottawa Senators believe, should be the tonic to break a six-game winless skid and put them back on track in the Eastern Conference playoff chase. With three more home ga...

Wednesday Scuttlebutt

How does the Senators organization honour veteran defenceman Chris Phillips before his 1,000th career NHL game tomorrow night? By painting black fours on the Scotiabank Place ice behind each of the nets and posting the worst photo imaginable photo of Ottawa's assistant captain on the main page of their website. (Featured above.) Between Phillips' 1000th career game, Carrie...
