Our latest article was linked on Puck Daddy yesterday.  Yet, as usual, when it is anyone other than Greg Wysh from Puck Daddy, they included their usual hate on Wings fans.  This time is was some new guy, Harrison Mooney, who's like a really poor man's Ryan Lambert: Nightmare on Helm Street thinks Jimmy Howard, who was just named the NHL’s second star of the week, is an elite netminder. Take it with a grain of salt, though — When it comes to elite netminding, Detroit fans aren’t the best judges. While I appreciate the link, doesn't that piss you off?  You don't know anything about goaltending.  Hit the jump for the rest.  I actually think that Detroit fans know what elite netminding is more than any other city in the league.  Why?  Well we've seen it all.  Starting, of course, we've seen the bad.  Think Tim Cheveldae, Bob Essensa, and Chris Osgood circa 2008-2009 regular season. We've dealt with the average and unreliable.  Think Manny "...

Howard's Not Just The 2nd Star Of The Week, He's An Elite Netminder

As reported by NHL.com today, Jimmy Howard is this week's Second Star: Howard is now tied for first with three shutouts after picking up two in his past four starts and surrendering just four goals total over that span. Howard helped the Red Wings turn things around by blanking the Anaheim Ducks and Edmonton Oilers, and giving up just two goals in wins against the Colorado...

St. Louis 2, Detroit Red Wings 1: Jimmy Howard's heroics can't redeem powerless Wings

As rotten a period as they've played all season and a supine power play cost the Red Wings their winning streak. Their 2-1 loss Tuesday night at Scottrade Center to the Blues only looked like a close score thanks to the acrobatics of Jimmy Howard, who made 35 saves. It's the fourth straight road loss for the Wings.

GDT - Game #16:  Red Wings at Blues (8:00)

The Wings (9-5-1) look to extend their winning streak to five games tonight at STL (8-7-1).  If DET can stay out of the penalty box they might win every game, their 1.61 5-5 F/A lead the league.  The Wings defense has been stifling, thanks in no small part to the outstanding play of Jimmy Howard.  DET lead the league in shots/game, are second in shot-against/game, and are fourth...

Blues 2, Red Wings 1

Alex Steen scored unassisted for the go-ahead goal in the second period, and the St. Louis Blues held the Detroit Red Wings to single-digit shots in all three periods of a 2-1 victory on Tuesday night. Matt D'Agostini added a power-play goal for the Blues, who ended the Red Wings' four-game winning streak and halted goalie Jimmy Howard's five-game winning streak against...

Sidelined White owed a debt -- and a meal -- by Howard

Ian White's next dinner is on Jimmy Howard. "I told him I'd buy him dinner in St. Louis," Howard said. White suffered a fractured cheekbone Saturday night while blocking a puck with his face in the third period of the Red Wings' 5-2 victory over the Dallas Stars and won't be making the trip that begins tonight in St. Louis.

RCL Madness – Week 5

It’s getting close to that time in the season where if you’re sitting in 11th or 12th place now is the time to make a move.  If you’re waaaay out of it ala SmarchSnow or BarberShop it’s time to start dropping unproductive players for hot waiver wire fodder.  It’s also time to start throwing out hail mary trade offers because something needs to change.  Alright enough...
