Nightmare on Helm Street:
Columbus Blue Jackets
Detroit Red Wings
Detroit is back at home for a 2-game homestead starting tonight vs the cellar dwellers, or as they prefer the Columbus Blue Jackets. If Detroit plays their game and doesn't underestimate the Blue Jackets, something they have been know to do from time to time. We should see the home win streak extend to 16 games. Puck drops at 7pm on FSD+Click the jump because you want to. Not because you have to.
What can I say about Columbus other than they exist. Oh yeah, they have a player named Grant Clitsome.Jimmy Howard and Curtis Sanford should be your goalies for tonight, It's still to early to get any confirmation, but the lines should be the same as they were in Phoenix. Mursak and Commodore may be inserted in place of Kindl and Emmerton.I hope that Commie gets in the game tonight. It's always nice when a player gets to face his former team. Just think, this time last year he was playing for their AHL affiliate in Springfield. Now he is on the best team in the NHL and they a...

You know what time it is? Happy Hudler time!Maybe Brett Lebda could learn a thing or two about taking some time off from the NHL. Then again Lebda couldn't learn anything from his time in the NHL, other than Toronto will grossly overpay sup-par defencemen. This weeks evidence shows that Happy is a man of many talents.Follow the jump for more

Columbus Blue Jackets center Derek MacKenzie is questionable for Saturday's game against the Detroit Red Wings.
MacKenzie sat out Saturday morning's skate due to the flu.
The 30-year-old MacKenzie has five goals and five assists in 46 games this season.
16 straight wins at home! Wings started the game slow and it nearly cost them. Playing down to your apponent will come back to bite you at some point. (It already did against the Islanders) Still, the worst team in the NHL won't be in the Stanley Cup Finals, so that's a plus.Jump for the full recap:
The Blue Jackets were the better team in the first. Detroit had few chances...
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned defenseman David Savard to the Springfield Falcons, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Howson announced ...
Very, very belatedly: good news on two fronts regarding Red Wings center Henrik Zetterberg’s accidental hit on Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Nikita Nikitin. The hit was very similar to the ones that broke the ankles of former Wing Jason Williams and current Wings forward Jan Mursak, but the Columbus Dispatch’s Aaron Portzline reports that Nikitin will be okay...
The Detroit Red Wings’ 3-2 shootout victory over the Phoenix Coyotes, I daresay, kinda played out the way I thought it would: the Wings were just sloppy enough—and their power play was bad enough, going a hideous 0-for-5 in 10 minutes of PP time—to give the Coyotes both the first goal and a game-tying goal directly after Gilbert Brule got out of the penalty box, and in between...
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Todd Bertuzzi scored in regulation, then spun in front of the net and made a spectacular backhand shot in a shootout and the Detroit Red Wings won their fifth in a row to take the NHL overall lead, beating the Phoenix Coyotes 3-2 on Thursday night.
Three of the wins in Detroit's streak have come in shootouts, two of them over Phoenix by identical scores...
Just a couple quick trade hitters for you:This from ESPN's Lebrun: Nearly every buyer you talk to lists a top-six forward as an item on their wish list before the Feb. 27 trade deadline. What the trade market needs is more teams to declare themselves sellers and out of the playoff race. But it’s still too early for that. That’s what happens with so much parity in the standings...
DETROIT – The Blue Jackets didn’t care how many consecutive games the Red Wings had won at Joe Louis Arena. Their goal was to make sure they didn’t extend it by one more game, and they nearly did so.
Valtteri Filppula scored in the fourth round of a shootout to give the Detroit Red Wings their 16th straight home victory, 3-2 over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night. The 16-game home winning streak tied Detroit with the 1975-76 Boston Bruins for the fourth-longest home winning streak in NHL history.
Todd Bertuzzi scored the game-winning goal in the third round of the shootout, lifting the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday.
Take a trip back to May 25, 2010, when Lightning owner Jeff Vinik formally introduced Steve Yzerman as the team's next general manager. Consider all the questions Yzerman fielded that day about the time he spent in Detroit under the tutelage of Hall of Famer Jimmy Devellano and Ken Holland at what Yzerman called Red Wings University.
