Devan Dubnyk robbed Olli Jokinen in the first period of Edmonton's 5-4 shootout loss to the Flames on Saturday, perhaps the best save of his young career. Dubnyk was a first round draft pick way back in 2004 but hasn't seen NHL ice until this season. If you've ever seen him play you know why. Dubnyk's 6'5 frame isn't exactly an asset. His lanky frame seems to slow him down and he sits way back in his net. You can even see how bad his reaction time is in the video. He doesn't even push off to go post-to-post, just kind of flops to the puck. I don't know why but I kind of hate him. It must be the name. Devan Dubnyk sounds like the name everyone would tease on the playground and when you see his goofy face you can't help want to make fun of him too. PS- This save isn't as good as Tim Thomas' similar glove save in December.
