Coaches from the New Jersey Colonials, a travel hockey club out of Mennen Arena, took on the Devils NHL Alumni Team in a match billed as the War to Restore or the Ice Cool Duel on Friday at Mennen Arena in Morris Township.
The Fundraiser collected donations and food items to replenish area food banks and raise funds for The Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund, founded by New Jersey Colonial mom Mary Pat Christie, wife of Gov. Christie. The Christies’ son skates for the Colonials.
The Devils NHL Alumni team included Ken Daneyko, John MacLean, Sergei Brylin, Grant Marshall, Bruce Driver, Dave Barr and head coach Pete DeBoer and others.
The New Jersey Colonials were looking for a way to help fellow New Jerseyans and Morris County residents who had been impacted by the storm. New Jersey Devils Head Coach DeBoer and his wife, Susan, stepped forward to meet that need by offering to put together this fundraising event with the Devils NHL Alumni team.
