The New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers didn't waste any time getting the action going during Tuesday night's NHL game at MSG, as they couldn't wait to start fighting. After the referee dropped the puck, two players on both teams dropped the gloves, and play was stopped two seconds into the game. On one side of the ice, Devils forward Cam Janssen took on Rangers forward Michael Rupp, while on the other side, Devils forward Eric Boulton took on Rangers forward Brandon Prust. The fight between Janssen and Rupp lasted about a minute before Rupp hurt his hand, although he did return to the game. The fight between Boulton and Prust lasted about a minute and a half before the referees separated the players. Janssen, Rupp, Boulton and Prust all received 5 minute major penalties for fighting. The Devils won the game 1-0. MSG video via hockeyfights.com.Holdout Sports is now a member of the Yardbarker Network. Visit us at holdoutsports.com. &...

Tortorella Must Focus On Richards

The Rangers played two abysmal periods against the Devils Tuesday night and despite a better third (and a shocking refereeing decision in waiving off a late tying goal), they deserved to lose. That said, this is a tight-knit bunch who know how they need to play and (usually) play their style of game well. The Rangers listen to their coach. Now that Tortorella has his team singing...

Postgame: Rangers Robbed of a Point in Loss to Devils

I'm not going to sit here and sugarcoat a loss because of a bad call at the end of the game, so don't allow the title of tonight's postgame fool you. But the New York Rangers rightfully tied the New Jersey Devils in the third period, 1-1, with just 3 seconds remaining on the clock this evening, however they were robbed of that goal because of poor judgment by the officials...

Practice Notes: New Lines; Fun Scrimmage; No Word on Eminger

Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record reports these lines from practice today...Anisimov-Stepan-GaborikDubinsky-Richards-PrustFedotenko-Boyle-CallahanRupp-Mitchell-Hagelin...absolute waste of Hagelin's speed on a line with Rupp and Mitchell. Although Hags and Mitchell did have some chemistry when they were first called up....also don't like Prust with Richards. Not exactly the...

Video: I Love When A New York Rangers Fan Looks Silly

The New Jersey Devils have won five in a row with two of those wins coming against the New York Rangers. A win over the Rangers always feels good but it is even better when New York fans do something to embarrass themselves and it’s caught on video. In this clip Martin Brodeur stops Marian Gaborik’s shootout attempt en route to a 4-3 Devils shootout win. Pay close attention...

Garden Party: Devils Skate to Fifth Straight Win

The New Jersey Devils defeated the New York Rangers in a close 1-0 game to win their fifth straight contest. Martin Brodeur was solid in net and David Clarkson scored the lone goal of the game. New Jersey racked up points 64 and 65 tonight, inching closer to the top of the Eastern Conference. Not often are hockey fans treated to the opening that this game saw. Two seconds into the...

Brayden Schenn got Kovalchuked

Ilya Kovalchuk has had an underwhelming year thus far, blatantly disobeying his coach by staying on the ice longer than he should, and failing to live up to his lofty contract but that didn't stop him from stepping up for his teammate Saturday after Zac Rinaldo gave Zach Parise an after-the-whistle slew-foot. The two teams exchanged some hugs before Kovalchuk jumped in and decided...

Brodeur, Devils shut out Rangers for 1-0 victory

Martin Brodeur stopped 30 shots for his first shutout this season and the record 117th of his NHL career Tuesday night, and the visiting New Jersey Devils beat the Eastern Conference-leading New York Rangers, 1-0, for their fifth consecutive win. David Clarkson gave Brodeur all the offense he needed with a first-period, power-play goal.

Video: Gaborik, Lundqvist, Callahan Talk After Loss to New Jersey

… a heart breaking missed call? Yes, indeed it was. But also do not discount the fact that the Rangers played flat mostly all night and the offense, and of course the powerless play, were down right awful.  Unfortunately for the Blueshirts, the Devils were the better team tonight.  But still sucks that they were [...]
