The New Jersey Devils got a much-needed win on Sunday night, just 24 hours after their worst loss of the season. That loss came to the Carolina Hurricanes by a score of 6-3. Johan Hedberg was pulled for the second time in three starts after the second period and gave way to rookie goaltender Jeff Frazee. However, Hedberg and the Devils rebounded nicely on Sunday, defeating the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 in a shootout. Ryan Carter and Stephen Gionta netted Jersey's goals and Patrik Elias' put the icing on the cake in the shootout. The Devils have now won two of their last three games; Elias has sealed the deal in the shootout on both occasions. Elias' late game heroics have become a theme as of late--he netted the game tying goal against Buffalo just a few nights ago with a little over a minute remaining in regulation. Tonight's game was a good sign for the Devils Army. Coach Peter DeBoer said after the game, "Tonight I thought we put it all together for the f...

postgame goodie: gene is in some film

Evgeni and Ilya Kovalchuk are in some Russian "children's film." We have no context for what it is about because we do not speak Russian but it appears to involve some girl in a blue dress whose breasts are supposed to be interesting, a small child, a gun, gangsters potentially, and Ilya Kovalchuk in some amazing wardrobe, and Gene being adorable. If any Russian-speakers...

Hurricanes hold on to down Devils

The Carolina Hurricanes kept on winning, this time at the expense of the skidding New Jersey Devils, who still can't get on track without Martin Brodeur. Jiri Tlusty had two goals, and the surging Hurricanes built an early lead and carried it through to a 6-3 victory over the Devils on Saturday night. New Jersey, which was in rally mode almost all night, got two goals from...

Game 24 Inside the Numbers: Devils at Hurricanes

The Hurricanes managed to close out their three-game homestand in style with a 6-3 win over the New Jersey Devils, even though the team and some fans probably have a bit of a sour taste in their mouth from how the third period was played. Don't get me wrong, the Hurricanes outplayed New Jersey and deserved this win, but they allowed the Devils to get back into the game by sitting...
