An MRI taken on Devils captain Bryce Salvador's foot showed as non-displaced fracture and the defenseman was placed on the seven-day injured reserve list retroactive to Oct. 22, general manager Lou Lamorello said Monday. "When he came back from his personal situation (a death in his family) his foot was still sore and we took an MRI and it showed a non-displaced stress fracture," Lamoriello said. "It's just going to be time. It could be a week. It could be 10 days. It's just time. He'll be out a period of time. So we've recalled (Eric) Gelinas." Assigning Gelinas to Albany (AHL) on Sunday was just a paper transaction. Salvador blocked a shot during the third period of the Oct. 22 game in Columbus. Gooalie Cory Schneider remains too sore to play with a lower body injury and was also put on IR retroactive to Oct. 24, the home game against Vancouver.

Devils captain Bryce Salvador placed on IR

Per Tom Gulitti on twitter, Bryce Salvador had an MRI on his foot Monday which revealed a stress fracture that landed him on injured reserved. The 37 year old Salvador has not been in the line up since Oct. 23 due to a death in his family. He was however put back on the active roster on Monday, but he was not at practice. The injury may now be more serious than first thought, this...

Devils’ Salvador thinks he’ll return “relatively quickly”; Schneider expected back by weekend

Devils captain Bryce Salvador seemed to be in good spirits when he stopped by the locker room today despite being on injured reserve now with a non-displaced stress fracture in his foot. Because it’s a non-displaced fracture, Salvador does not need a cast and is still able to walk on his foot. He was placed on injured reserve retroactive to his last game – last Tuesday’s 4...

Jaromir Jagr Blames Lack of Goals on New Sticks, Says ‘I Have to Start Scoring’

Jaromir Jagr is tied for the team lead in points, but the veteran forward isn’t pleased with his production early in the season, holding a piece of equipment accountable for his lack of scoring. The 41-year-old has notched two goals and seven assists this season — including two helpers in New Jersey’s come-from-behind win against the Bruins on Saturday night — but the NHL...

The 684th goal of Jagr's 20-year NHL career, gave him 119 game-winners, putting him one ahead of Hall of Famer Phil Esposito. Adam Henrique also scored and Martin Brodeur made 16 saves...

Todd Cordell: New Jersey Devils: Deuces Wild

The New Jersey Devils didn't have to do much in effort to clear a roster spot for Eric Gelinas. Just a day after being sent down to Albany, Gelinas has been recalled and will play Tuesday when the Devils host the Eastern Conference leading Tampa Bay Lightning. In order to make room for Gelinas, Devils captain Bryce Salvador was placed on injured reserve as he's out...

Todd Cordell: Power play leads Devils To Dramatic Win Over Bruins + Gelinas sent to AHL

For the first time in eight tries, the New Jersey Devils won in an arena they don't call their own. Down a goal late to a Boston team that was seeded No. 1 in the Eastern Conference entering Saturday night's action, the Devils scored two goals in 23 seconds to take their first lead of the game, and ultimately that was enough for the win. Adam Henrique, Damien Brunner...

Devils' comeback win over Bruins sparked by four power play goals

As comebacks go, the Devils staged one Saturday night that can easily be classified as improbable and unforgettable. They scored two goals in the final 68 seconds, including the tying goal in which goalie Martin Brodeur was pulled to create an unusual six-against-three power play advantage. But was their stunning 4-3 victory over the Boston Bruins, their first at TD Garden in four...

Devils must win again to make comeback in Boston meaningful

It was the kind of comeback victory that saves coaches’ jobs. More importantly, it was the kind of victory that has the potential to save a season if it indeed becomes a turning point. “We can let it be (a season-changer). It’s on us to keep it going,” defenseman Andy Greene said about Saturday night’s 4-3 victory over the Boston Bruins in which the Devils scored twice...
