Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello has always been willing to invite an unsigned veteran or two to training camp on a tryout basis, and it could happen again this year.
But there is no one on the team’s radar at this point.
“If it happens, we’d be totally comfortable with it. But, as of this point, we don’t have a guy like that,” Lamoriello told The Star-Ledger.
Lamoriello said he will see which veterans remain unsigned and consider extending an invitation if there is someone that might be able to help.
“There are a lot of players out there that haven’t signed. They’re waiting to get contracts before they make a commitment to go to any camp,” the GM said.
But don’t expect the Devils to bring goaltender Martin Brodeur to training camp— with or without a contract.
