Montreal Canadiens
As the Canadiens enter what is to be their last full month of play, they have displayed some reasonably impressive hockey, posting a 4-2-1 record.
While it's unfortunate that the Canadiens recent play is no doubt too little too late, it is at least an indication that the Habs are in fact better than they've shown thus far.
Lack of Offensive Depth
So far, the Habs have been averaging...

Why is Gomez still playing...revisted?
Well, sort of again. Have no fear, I will not be going "granular" on you with a ton of Gomez stats.
Many poeple have left very interesting comments in the first article on the subject (and I'd like to thank you all for them!).
A lot of them had to do with the fact that, weather the numbers were there or not, Gomez had...
Habs/Sens Post-Game, Markov, Meetings and More
Morning puck fans!
I will be brief in my commentary this A.M. In fact, I will just pose one quick question.
Weren't you all terrified when Andrei Markov dropped to the ice after getting a puck to the face?
I was. I was thinking 'oh no, not again'
Thankfully, he was alright and returned to the game. Hopefully, that good fortune can continue for the duration...
SACRE BLEU!
Video: Habs player scores, high-fives ref
Erik Cole scored a goal on Wednesday night for the Ottowa Senators and couldn’t find any of his teammates to celebrate with. So what did Cole do? He found an outstretched arm of an 18-year veteran official Greg Kimmerly and gave him a high five. Pretty hilarious and you can only imagine what the ref was thinking after it happened.
“He was the only one there, and I had...
SACRE BLEU!
Video: Habs player scores, high-fives ref
I can confidently say that I’ve never seen this happen before, but it was certainly entertaining. In the Canadiens/Senators game tonight, Erik Cole scored the first goal of the game on Sens backup goalie Ben Bishop and then proceeded to high-five referee Greg Kimmerly. It didn’t seem like Kimmerly was exactly planning for the high-five, more like signaling that it was a good...
Carey Price still playing for keeps
The Habs eked out a point last night. That was solely due to the play of Carey Price, who kept the Senators at bay for 50-odd minutes before they tied the game and went on to win 2-1. The Habs were without Andrei Markov (it’s not the knee, it’s upper body, we swear…yeah, sure), Tomas Kaberle, and the regulars who have been out all season. I give Randy Cunneyworth credit, he...
Erik Cole celebrates scoring goal by giving high-five to ref (Video)
Montreal Canadiens forward Erik Cole scored the first goal of Wednesday night's NHL game in Montreal against the Ottawa Senators. As Cole looked for someone to celebrate, the first person he came across was NHL referee Greg Kimmerly who had his hand up to signal that the goal was good. Naturally, Cole's instincts took over and he gave the ref a high-five.
Montreal...
Canadiens 3, Senators 2, SO
David Desharnais scored in regulation and in a shootout, lifting the Montreal Canadiens to a 3-2 win over the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday night.
Desharnais had the only goal in the shootout, and Canadiens goalie Carey Price stopped all three Ottawa attempts.
Erik Cole also scored for Montreal (28-32-11), 3-0-1 in its last four games. The Canadiens are 3-0-1 against the Senators...
Erik Cole Scores, High-Fives the Ref
Erik Cole is one of the fastest skaters in the NHL and he showed off that speed on Wednesday as he flew down the ice to bang a goal home. He was so fast down the ice there wasn't anyone there to celebrate his goal with right away so he did the next best thing: high-five the ref.
I love it!
In Quebec, they speak French and high 5 referees
I don't know if this is common practice in Montreal, but it happened Wednesday night with Erik Cole and this lucky official. I have to assume it is though, as it is on video, and BMR French Canadian expert Loser Domi is on vacation

Islanders-Canadiens Preview
The Montreal Canadiens tend to have little trouble with the New York Islanders.
Lately, most opponents have enjoyed facing the Islanders - especially when hosting them.
The Canadiens look to continue their dominance of last-place New York when they conclude the season series Saturday night at the Bell Centre.
Montreal (28-32-12) is 14-2-4 over its last 20 meetings with the Islanders...
Canadiens-Senators Preview
Currently seventh in the Eastern Conference, the Ottawa Senators have held their own against most teams in the league.
The Montreal Canadiens, however, have surprisingly had their number.
Ottawa tries to avoid a fourth loss in five meetings with Montreal this season as the teams conclude a home-and-home set Friday night at Scotiabank Place.
While most teams in the Senators'...
