GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Shane Doan and Boyd Gordon scored two goals apiece and the Phoenix Coyotes returned from an 0-3 road trip to rout the Colorado Avalanche 6-1 on Monday.
The performances came the first time the Coyotes played at home since Doan's breakthrough hat trick on Jan. 7, the first time he had scored three times in a game in his 16-year NHL career. Gilbert Brule (JIHL-behr BROO-lay) had a goal and assist for the Coyotes just six days after he was claimed off waivers from Edmonton. Rostislav Klesla scored Phoenix's season-high sixth goal in the third period.
Chris Summers had a pair of assists for his first career NHL points. Chuck Kobasew scored Colorado's lone goal.
Mike Smith had 38 saves to 27 for Semyon Varlamov of the Avalanche.
