It seems like we go through this every year, doesn't it? The NHL trade deadline approaches and right on cue Jarome Iginla's name starts surfacing in various rumor hubs around the Internet. Will this be the year Iginla and the Flames finally part ways?  It seems like the NHL trade deadline has borrowed a strategy used by a soap opera, constantly recycling storylines year after year. The Iginla story is one that was played out years ago and now is one the keeps showing up on schedule as soon as the deadline approaches.  Here we will add another article to the Internet pile, analyzing the arguments for and against moving Iginla out of Calgary.    Why an Iginla Trade Makes Sense Jarome Iginla is skating in his 15th NHL season, all of which he has spent with the Calgary Flames. Since his debut in the 1996-97 NHL season, Iginla has consistently averaged around a point-per-game, scoring 1,048 points in 1,159 games. Iginla became the 10th player in NHL history to score 30 or mo...

Flames C Jokinen snaps slump .. by eating hamburger

Olli Jokinen snapped his 15-game goalless streak by having a hamburger. Yes, you read that right. The Calgary Flames center remembered some sage words from the legendary Wayne Gretzky when the Finn was last mired in a pronounced slump during the 2008-09 campaign. "In Phoenix, I think I went 10, 11 games without a goal and he pulled me into a meeting and said ‘Hey, you take...

Big Mac breaks Olli Jokinen's goalless streak

When Calgary Flames center Olli Jokinen had gone 15 games without a goal, he knew he had to change up something. So the former Phoenix Coyote recollected on some advice that was passed on to him by the Great One, Wayne Gretzky. He went out for a Big Mac meal. Luca Sbisa hit on Tim Jackman

Check out this hit by Ducks defenseman Luca Sbisa on Calgary Flames forward Tim Jackman. While Sbisa does hit Jackman in the head, I definitely think the hit in question looks accidental and not malicious. For the hit in question, Sbisa was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for headbutting Jackman. After the hit, Jackman left the game and didn't return. I...

Flames-Ducks Preview

In the win column again following back-to-back losses, the Calgary Flames know they have to keep picking up points if they're going to make a move up the Western Conference standings. Getting that done in Anaheim could prove difficult.
