If you haven’t seen this Youtube.com video from Don Cherry, it’s absolutely hilarious. First off, there are eight American players on the Toronto Maple Leafs current roster, that's just the way it is.  There are also 11 players with college hockey experience as well. While there might not be any players from Toronto, there are four players from Ontario on the Toronto Maple Leafs, so I am not sure what he babbling about. There are roughly 14 Canadians on the Toronto Maple Leafs current roster.   Ironically, Max Pacioretty the top scorer for the Montreal Canadians last year is an American born ex University of Michigan hockey player. The number two scorer from last season's Montreal Canadians was Erik Cole who was born in America as well and played his college hockey at Clarkson College of the ECAC. I bet Grapes would like UND's roster because there are two Ontario natives on the current roster.

Phil Kessel is afraid of the puck

A puck was shot towards the bench area and Toronto Maple Leafs forward Phil Kessel had a priceless reaction.  I can’t blame him for flinching, it was just the way he went about it that makes this absolutely hysterical.  It was like he was completely shocked that he didn’t get hit and wasn’t ready to let his guard down.[The Score]

Toronto Maple Leafs:Phil Kessel’s Woes Continue

The Toronto Maple Leafs have had quite a week winning two games and losing a close one on the weekend.  After watching these games I realized two things.  One, Buffalo’s net minder, Ryan Miller can be beaten, two no matter how hard he tries, Phil Kessel can not seem to score  a goal, not even an empty netter.  He now has 36 shots on net and no goals to show for it.   He did...

According to rule 49.2 "A goal cannot be scored...

No, An Intern Won’t Get Fired For This Staal Brothers Vs. Maple Leafs Stunt & More Screencapping Fun!

Congrats to the Maple Leafs broadcast network for pulling this Staal Brothers (Jordan & Eric) 2, Maple Leafs 1 stunt during last night’s game. The Hurricanes would win, 4-2, but the Leafs shutout the Staal’s in the 3rd period.  Some call that a moral victory. Speaking of hockey, would you buy a soft pretzel shaped like the Stanley Cup? Of course you would. Would you buy...

Mike Augello: Defensive Dings; Leafs Face Carolina

The Maple Leafs recalled defenseman Korbinian Holzer on Sunday from the Toronto Marlies and returned winger Ryan Hamilton to the AHL club. The recall was necessitated by an injury to blueliner Carl Gunnarsson, who took the pre-game skate before the Leafs faced Boston on Saturday, but is now out with an unspecified lower body injury. The 24 year old native of Munich, Germany...

Toronto’s James Reimer Foils Tyler Seguin With Knob Save (Video)

With the Bruins on the power play, Tyler Seguin was looking to add to Boston’s 1-0 lead against Toronto on Saturday. His slap shot from the right circle fooled Leafs goalie James Reimer, but the netminder was able to turn the shot away — in very unusual fashion. The Amica Coverage Cam shows Seguin’s shot deflecting off the knob of Reimer’s stick and sailing over the net....

Maple Leafs-Capitals Preview

The Toronto Maple Leafs just can't get the job done at home. It's been a different story on the road. Toronto looks to match its best road start since 1998-99 on Tuesday night when it faces the slumping Washington Capitals for the second time in less than a week. After picking up their first home points of the season on Thursday with a 3-2 win over Washington (2-6-1), the...

Sportsnet Ontario gets creative with the score in the Carolina / Toronto game

Sportsnet Ontario flexed their creative muscle during the Carolina Hurricanes / Toronto Maple Leafs game on Monday night. Midway through the second period, Carolina led the Maple Leafs by a score of 2-1 thanks to goals from Jordan Staal and his brother Eric.  As the station prepared to go to break (or returned from break, we're not sure), they opted to run a slightly modified...

Canes rally back to defeat Maple Leafs 4-1

Tonight's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs provided the Hurricanes with a chance to get back to .500 and give the team some positive vibes as they continue this long road trip. It looked like they could be in for another long game as Carolina got off to the worst start imaginable in the first 20 minutes. The Canes were stuck in their own zone for about 60% of the frame, couldn...

Game 8 Preview: Hurricanes at Maple Leafs

Carolina Hurricanes at Toronto Maple Leafs 7 p.m., Air Canada Centre TV: FS-Carolinas, SportsNet-Ontario Starting this long road trip with a 5-3 loss to an injury-depleted Flyers team on Saturday night probably wasn't what the Hurricanes had in mind, so they will look to turn things around tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs. That loss to the Flyers was yet another...

Bruins 1, Maple Leafs 0

TORONTO -- Chris Bourque scored a first-period goal, and Tuukka Rask picked up his first shutout of the season as the Boston Bruins defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 1-0 on Saturday at Air Canada Centre. Rask turned aside 21 shots while improving his record to 5-1-1 for the season. The Bruins had 34 shots on goal, and Toronto goalie James Reimer stopped all but one. The Bruins...

Canadiens' Pacioretty back from appendectomy

When Montreal Canadiens' left wing Max Pacioretty had an emergency appendectomy, he was expected to miss 3-4 weeks. However, he was in the lineup on Sunday, just eight days after the operation. He did not score on Sunday, but has four assists for the season.

Eric Engels: It's all about the team...

Some things are too good to be true. And yet, there was Max Pacioretty, just eight days after having his appendix removed, assisting on a crucial goal as part of a 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators. Pacioretty's biggest gripe--having the appendix removed through his belly button, leaving him with an "outie". "What percentage would you say you were at for...

Habs top Senators to extend home surge

David Desharnais and Erik Cole scored first-period goals and the Montreal Canadiens held on for a 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Sunday. The win completed a sweep of weekend matinees at home for Montreal (6-2-0) after a 6-1 win Saturday over the Buffalo Sabres. The Canadiens have won five straight at home after dropping their home opener to Toronto on Jan. 19. Jakob Silfverberg...

Canadiens win with a little less, 2-1

MONTREAL -- The Montreal Canadiens had scored at least four goals in each of their first five wins. Facing the hottest goalie in the NHL, they managed to claim their latest victory with only half as much offensive production. David Desharnais and Erik Cole scored first-period goals and Carey Price made 32 saves to lead Montreal to a 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Sunday...
