The Bruins have a good amount of defensive depth, and that will be put to the test on Saturday night in Game 2 against Toronto with the B’s missing one of their veteran defensemen. Andrew Ference has been suspended one game for his hit on Mikhail Grabovski in Game 1, meaning Boston will be without the battle-tested blue liner for the second game. That opens the door for one of the club’s young players. Dougie Hamilton may be back in the lineup for Game 2 on Saturday night, although Boston head coach Claude Julien isn’t ready to announce the decision yet. Julien said after practice Friday that he’d make his decision Saturday, but Hamilton looks like he might be the guy Julien goes with. Hamilton skated alongside Game 1 hero Wade Redden at practice Friday. If the B’s do put Hamilton into the lineup, it would likely mean that the top pairing of Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg would be split up. Chara was with Adam McQuaid at practice Friday, while Seidenberg was with Johnny Boychuk. ...

Marathon hero serves as honorary Bruins captain

There was a very special and emotional moment before Game 2 of the Bruins-Maple Leafs series on Saturday night when the Bruins called on Boston Marathon bombing victim Jeff Bauman to be the honorary banner captain at the TD Garden. Bauman, who lost both legs while waiting for his girlfriend to cross the race’s finish line and later helped to identify both bombing suspects, waved...

Jaromir Jagr Enjoys A Pre Game Skate With Short Shorts & A Winter Hat

A.B. When you are a 41-year old, guaranteed first-ballot hall of famer, with almost 1,700 career points – you can do and wear whatever the hell you want. That being said, this pre-game outfit of choice is odd, even for Jaromir Jagr. Short shorts, skates and a winter hat are three things I never thought I would put in the same sentence. But to Jagr’s defense, maybe it has something...

Brad Marchand: James van Riemsdyk ‘speared me in the privates’ (GIF)

Following the Boston Bruins’ huge 4-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday in Game 1 of the teams’ Eastern Conference quarterfinals match-up, Bruins winger Brad Marchand claimed that Maple Leafs forward James van Riemsdyk engaged in a little funny business as it relates to stick-employed groin-play at the expense of Marchand’s crotchal region. To put it more plainly...

Andrew Ference Accepts Suspension, Already Looking to Next Game (Video)

The Bruins dominated in nearly every category on Wednesday night in Game 1 of the playoffs against the Maple Leafs. The only bad news for the B’s came after the game, when defenseman Andrew Ference was suspended for one game for throwing an elbow at the face of Toronto’s Mikhail Grabovski. Ference will sit out of Game 2 against the Maple Leafs on Saturday night to fulfill his...

Bruins, Maple Leafs Both Expected to Make Adjustments in Preparation for Game 2 (Video)

After dominating the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 1, logic might say that the Bruins should simply try to duplicate that performance, but it may not be so easy. With Andrew Ference suspended for one game, Boston will need to make some lineup adjustments. That likely means defenseman Dougie Hamilton will get the first playoff action of his young career. Hamilton has been a healthy...

James Van Riemsdyk pokes Brad Marchand in crotch with stick

Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand is great at getting under opponents skin and it seems that Toronto Maple Leafs forward James Van Riemsdyk wanted to get back at him .  JVR did a great job subtly butt ending Marchand in the crotch, which caused Marchand to take a baseball swing in retaliation.  Too bad for JVR, the Bruins destroyed the Leafs and this series could be over in a...

The Boston Bruins first full game comes at the right time

The Boston Bruins finally flipped the switch After the first two minutes of the Boston Bruins first playoff game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, all the fears of the fan-base were suddenly realized. These Boston Bruins couldn’t flip the switch. One bad penalty and one Maple Leaf goal at the 18:06 point of the first period, and the Boston Bruins appeared as a team that didn’t...

Maple Leafs Come Out Firing Against Bruins, Putting Pressure on Boston’s New Defensive Pairings (Video)

Here come the Maple Leafs. The Bruins defense was able to withstand a furious attack through the first 20 minutes of Saturday night’s Game 2, but the Leafs seem intent on keeping that pressure up all game long. Phil Kessel even threatened to score, which shows the kind of confidence that Toronto is playing with. NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette has a theory as to why the Leafs are...

Bruins Must Prove They Can Replicate Game 1 Performance Before Writing Off Maple Leafs (Podcast)

The Bruins looked like world-beaters in Game 1 of their first-round series against the Maple Leafs. Now, they must prove that it wasn’t a one-time performance. After arguably their most complete game of the season, Boston holds a 1-0 lead over Toronto in a best-of-seven series. Despite how dominant the Bruins looked in that first game, however, it only counts on the scoreboard...
