Dougie Hamilton‘s whirlwind rookie season continues to draw rave reviews. The Bruins defenseman was named the winner of NESN’s Seventh Player Award on Thursday night, and he received his award prior to the team’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Voted on by Bruins fans at NESN.com, NESN’s Seventh Player Award is presented to the player who went above and beyond the call of duty for the Bruins and exceeded the expectations of fans during the 2012-13 season. Hamilton has five goals and 11 assists in 42 NHL games this season. The 19-year-old rookie entered Thursday tied for third in the NHL among rookie defesemen in points with 16, third in assists (11) and tied for third in goals as well (5). He is playing in his first NHL season after being drafted 9th overall by the Bruins in the 2011 draft. Check out video from Thursday’s ceremony in the video above.
