Dougie Hamilton, the Bruins 2011 first-round (No. 9 overall) draft pick, was named the OHL’s defenseman of the year on Tuesday for his work this year with the Niagara IceDogs.

Hamilton led the OHL in scoring with 17 goals and 55 assists this past season, despite missing 10 games for a suspension. Hamilton also currently has 4-15-19 totals in just 15 playoff games.

It’s hard to imagine that Hamilton won’t be playing for the Bruins next year given his superb play and the fact that the B’s will have an open slot at defense with the expiring contract of Joe Corvo.

Bruins Prospect Dougie Hamilton Named OHL's Defenseman of the Year

Dougie Hamilton is going to make it very tough for the Bruins to start him anywhere but Boston next season. The B's 2011 first-round draft pick was named the OHL's defenseman of the year on Tuesday for his work this year with the Niagara IceDogs. Last year's No. 9 pick was simply dominant this season, leading the league in scoring with 17 goals and 55 assists, despite...

Bruins' Biggest Question in Offseason Is What to Do With Tim Thomas

The Boston Bruins find themselves in an interesting predicament. They have some cap space and don't need wholesale changes, but they have one crucial decision to make: Do they move a veteran goaltender in the hopes of boosting other areas of the team? Another team facing the same question is the Bruins' 2011 Stanley Cup finals opponent, the Vancouver Canucks. While the Canucks...

Cam Neely doesn’t plan on trading Thomas or Tuukka

Bruins president Cam Neely announced yesterday that, despite mounting speculation that the Bruins will trade either Tim Thomas or Tuukka Rask,  he doesn’t plan on parting ways with either of his goaltenders. “We’re very happy with our goalies.  We have two strong goalies in both Tim and Tuukka,” said Neely. “I think a lot of teams are probably envious of what we have...

Cam Neely Not Looking to Make Major Changes, Might Be Best Course of Action for Bruins

BOSTON -- Bruins president Cam Neely termed the club's first-round exit in this year's playoffs "unacceptable." Speaking at an end of season news conference with owner Jeremy Jacobs and principal Charlie Jacobs, Neely expressed his continuing confidence in the...

Dougie Hamilton Named OHL Defenseman Of The Year

Okay everyone, time for some puck moving defenseman fappage. The OHL announced their "Defenseman of the Year" award and guess who took home the honors? The #9 overall pick and Boston bruins prospect Dougie Hamiltion. Now, I'm sure this is where I'm supposed to make a "Doing the Dougie" joke, but I refuse because that **** is lamesauce. Here's what...

BOSTON -- When Bruins president Cam Neely, owner Jeremy Jacobs and principal Charlie Jacobs met with the media Thursday afternoon at the Garden to discuss their club's recently completed season, they were easily outnumbered by the reporters and cameramen on hand. That wasn't a problem. It's only when the Bruins have a numerical superiority that they have a problem. Boston...

Cam Neely Calls Early Exit from Playoffs 'Unacceptable,' Bruins Leadership Remains Confident in Club's Direction

BOSTON -- In 2011, the Bruins played later in the calendar year than ever before, a postseason run that ended with the hoisting of the Stanley Cup on June 15. This year, the skates were packed away and the hopes to defending that title dashed before the end of April after falling to Washington in the opening round. Thursday at the Garden, Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs, principal Charlie...

Bruins Mailbag: B's Do Have Young Goaltending Options If They Decide to Move On From Tim Thomas

The Bruins' quest to defend the Cup ended much earlier than expected. A year after surviving three thrilling Game 7s to win their first championship in 39 years, the Bruins found themselves on the wrong side of a dramatic seventh game as the Capitals eliminated Boston on Joel Ward's goal 2:57 into overtime. And so the Bruins' season came to a sudden and shocking end....
