To say that Drew Stafford has been in a slump is pretty much an understatement. 14 games played and he has yet to score one goal this season. In fact, you have to go back to March 31, 2012 to find the last game that Stafford has scored in. This slump has been highlighted across multiple outlets with some sensible opinions found in the Buffalo News to the utterly ridiculous elsewhere.
It's not like Stafford hasn't had the chances to score this season. He is second on the team in shots coming into tonight's game with 40. He had a wide open net in the first period of Tuesday's game against the Ottawa Senators that he missed. Luck just hasn't been on his side when you factor that his PDO is a career low 956. By comparison, Stafford's PDO when he had his career high 31 goals was a 1048. The basemark for a person is 1000.The low PDO is completely accounted for by the fact that he hasn't scored yet this season. It also tells us that he will eventually sco...

When Drew Stafford scored 3:24 into the first period on Friday night, there was no one happier in the arena than he was to finally get one to go his way.
“Obviously, that’s something I’ve been working for,” said Stafford, who donned the team’s brown fur coat that is given to their MVP of the night. “Finally it’s nice to get rewarded; now hopefully it floodgates.”...
Things certainly looked bleak for the Buffalo Sabres after two periods. The Bruins led, Ryan Miller was under siege and if things didn’t turn around, head coach Lindy Ruff might have very soon found himself on the unemployment line. Everything changed in the third period, when the Sabres roared back to overtake the Bruins and keep Ruff on the bench for at least one game more....
Sabres goalie Ryan Miller has seen more shots than any other goalie so far this season, so to say he’s broken in would be an understatement. Sunday during Hockey Day in America, the Sabres and Pens were knotted at three when Neal was set to ring up his 12th goal of 2013 as Sidney Crosby fed him deep in the Sabres’ zone.
Miller gave Neal a Mutombo wag and denied him with a glove...

It’s become an unfortunate reality for the Buffalo Sabres: late period goals against. And on Sunday, the unfortunate happened once again in Buffalo’s 4-3 loss to Pittsburgh.
For the sixth time this season, the Sabres gave up a goal with less than 2:30 left to play in a period — a Paul Martin shot with 2:04 remaining. It ended up being the second time that the goal given up...
Ryan Miller of the Buffalo Sabres played a great game in goal against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday — Hockey Day in America, in case you didn’t know. With the game tied 3-3 with just over three minutes left in the third period, Miller darted to his left to make a glove save on James Neal’s one-timer.
Watch the awesomeness below:
Unfortunately for Miller,...
In a surprise move, Lindy Ruff is healthy scratching robust, burly D Mike Weber.
Cody McCormick and TJ Brennan will also sit this one out.
Why is Lindy compromising the grit and tenacity of his lineup by sitting a guy who has arguably been his...
Buffalo is a nice city. Just ask the Bruins. They have to pack up and go back to Buffalo for the second time in three games, all in the same week. The last time the two teams met the Bruins beat the Sabres 3-1 and overpowered the weak Sabres team. Both teams have only played one game since their last meeting. The Bruins lost in overtime to the New York Rangers in a thrilling game...
If there was an honor for being the luckiest team in the NHL, the Buffalo Sabres might be the front runners for that award.
Multiple times this season Buffalo has been bailed out of their awful decisions, and has found itself in contention for a victory even though it was playing awful hockey.
On Friday, it happened again.
Despite an overly poor outing in the second period, and other...

The Pens visit Buffalo on a cold Sunday.
The Sabres are 11th in the East and they haven't won two games-in-a-row since the first two of the season. They beat the Bruins 4-2 on Friday. The Pens are one point behind New Jersey for the Atlantic...
Anton Khudobin skates away as the Sabres celebrate their third goal of the third period.
If you turned the television off after the second period, you missed a lot. Through two periods, it looked as if the Bruins would beat the seemingly disinterested Buffalo Sabres with ease in front of their restless fans for the second time in less than a week. Then came the third, however, and...
After a hard fought, comeback win against the Boston Bruins on Friday night, the Buffalo Sabres have a little more confidence brewing than they did after the last two times the teams met.
In order to keep the confidence growing, the Sabres have to pass a big test this afternoon when they face the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins in a nationally televised game (NBC) on Hockey Day In America...
Didn't we just play these guys? I feel like the Bruins February schedule is home vs NYR, then at Buffalo, then at NYR, then home against Buffalo - rinse and repeat. I'm not complaining though because playing Buffalo is like Michael Jordan dominating a wheelchair basketball game. For a team I picked to finish on top of the Northeast Division - they're ******* terrible...
Drew MacIntyre gets his revenge. The post Bears Fall in Toronto, 2-1 appeared first on Capitals Outsider.
Sabres D Reggie Sekera is doubtful for the Pens game on Sunday afternoon, according to Lindy Ruff.
Sekera suffered a leg injury when he was checked innocently by Boston's Shawn Thornton on Friday night.
Mike Weber was a healthy scratch vs. Boston. Weber will no doubt draw back in to the starting six D against his hometown Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday afternoon.
