Anaheim Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf is nearing a return from an upper-body injury. Getzlaf missed his third straight game Thursday night at Tampa Bay, but took part in the morning skate. After Thursday's game with the Lightning, Anaheim continues its trip Friday night at Carolina before playing Pittsburgh on Monday night. ''If not (Friday), hopefully Monday,'' Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau said. ''He's getting close.'' Getzlaf has 10 goals and 12 assists in 18 games this season. Ducks right wing Corey Perry sat out the morning skate due to the flu, but was in the lineup against the Lightning. The flu has impacted the Ducks recently, slowing a number of players including goalie Jonas Hiller. The Ducks have reassigned goalie Frederik Andersen to their AHL affiliate despite his 6-1 start to his NHL career. The NHL-leading Ducks also assigned defenseman Sami Vatanen to Norfolk while recalling center Peter Holland and goalie Viktor Fasth. An...

Ducks' Getzlaf nearing return

Anaheim Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf is nearing a return from an upper-body injury. Getzlaf missed his third straight game Thursday night at Tampa Bay, but took part in the morning skate. After Thursday's game with the Lightning, Anaheim continues its trip Friday night at Carolina before playing Pittsburgh on Monday night. ''If not (Friday), hopefully Monday,''...

Ryan Getzlaf's Game Brings Golden Victory To The Anaheim Ducks.

I recently landed a very rare Ryan Getzlaf rookie card for a measly $4.12 delivered. It hails from 2005-2006 Upper Deck Victory and is the hard-to-find Gold parallel numbered out of 100. My copy - 87/100 - is a most welcome addition to my Captain Getz PC. The Ducks are sorely missing the services of Getzy right now.I cropped it out from being as visible as it was, but if you direct...

Ducks send G Andersen back to AHL

The Anaheim Ducks have reassigned goalie Frederik Andersen to their AHL affiliate despite his 6-1 start to his NHL career. The NHL-leading Ducks also assigned defenseman Sami Vatanen to Norfolk on Thursday while recalling center Peter Holland and goalie Viktor Fasth. Andersen is the first NHL goalie to win the first six decisions of his career since Damian Rhodes did it for Toronto...

WATCH: Dustin Penner snaps stick in half on goal

The Anaheim Ducks were on the power play nearly halfway through the 3rd period when Corey Perry found Dustin Penner for the game-tying goal.  Penner’s stick snapped clear in two as he shot the puck but the shot still managed to beat Carolina Hurricanes goalie Justin Peters.  The Hurricanes went on to beat the Ducks in a shootout. Ducks Send Frederik Andersen To Norfolk

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled center Peter Holland from the Norfolk Admirals, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, the Ducks have reassigned goaltender Frederik Andersen and defenseman Sami Vatanen to Norfolk. Andersen, 23 (10/2/89), appeared in...

Panthers Pounce on Hapless Ducks

And so the winning streak ends for the Anaheim Ducks.   The 3-2 loss to the Florida Panthers on Tuesday was hopefully a wake up call for a team that fell asleep at the wheel and veered off course, but not before the Panthers pounced. Florida, a team dwelling at the bottom of the NHL standings, so much so that they replaced their coach a couple games ago, decided that enough...

Predators, Ducks have had talks about Jonas Hiller

To the surprise of few, the Nashville Predators have found life to be very rough without goaltender Pekka Rinne in the crease. Since he has been out with a bacterial infection in his hip, the Preds have been leaking goals left right with their inexperienced goalies. SO it would make sense if GM David POile weren't at least considering the options out there to try and get the...

Ducks-Lightning Preview

The Tampa Bay Lightning managed to get back into the win column in their first game without star forward Steven Stamkos. The Anaheim Ducks, meanwhile, couldn't extend their win streak during captain Ryan Getzlaf's absence. With Getzlaf potentially out again, the Ducks will attempt to spoil Tampa Bay's brief return home Thursday night in an early showdown of conference...

Lightning Strike Ducks 5-1

The best of the West went up against the best of the East and it wasn't even close.  The Tampa Bay Lightning showed why they are tops in their conference, even without Steven Stamkos, in a 5-1 defeat of the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks, who were playing their second of four road games, have been ravaged by the stomach flu, which is making its rounds to all the players.  Watching...
