Anaheim Ducks defenseman Sheldon Souray will be out four to six months after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist.
The Ducks announced Souray's absence Tuesday.
The 37-year-old defenseman was hurt while working out off the ice on July 17, the team says. He had surgery July 25 in Los Angeles, and will be out at least four months from the time of the surgery.
Souray made a solid debut with the Ducks last fall, getting seven goals and 10 assists with a plus-19 rating as a key power-play contributor for the Pacific Division champions. Souray signed a three-year contract with Anaheim last summer.
Souray's lengthy absence is a blow to the Ducks, who also signed former Edmonton defenseman Mark Fistric.

Whether you love his moves or hate his moves, you can’t deny Paul Holmgren is willing to make a bold trade when he feels his team needs it. One of those trades came in the summer of 2009, when Holmgren was able to grab Chris Pronger from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for several pieces. One of those pieces was a young blue liner by the name of Luca Sbisa. Sbisa was drafted 19th...
