This phrase can be used to describe the recent play of the Anaheim Ducks.

While the team is 13th in the Western Conference, the Ducks certainly are not playing that way. In fact, they are playing like a club that deserves to be in one of the top eight spots.

After getting off to an extremely slow start under both Randy Carlyle and new head coach Bruce Boudreau, the Ducks have found their game. The team has won nine of its last 11 games and are 10 points out of the eighth and final playoff spot.

There are several reasons for the team's recent success. For starters, the team's offense has woken up. In the Ducks' last seven games, they have scored 21 goals.

Guys like Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf and Bobby Ryan have woken up and have started putting the puck in the net and creating offense. The "Finnish Flash" Teemu Selanne has also continued his strong play and has shown no signs of slowing down.

Secondly, the Ducks' goaltending has been much better of late. Starter Jonas Hiller is 4-1 in his last five games and in those five games, has allowed just seven goals, to get his statistics back up to a somewhat respectable 16-18-7 with a 2.77 goals against average, a .908 save percentage and 2 shutouts.

Lastly, they are playing under a successful Boudreau system. The team's offense is rolling and the team is also managing to play responsible defensive hockey as well.

Should the Ducks continue to play this way, the Western Conference is going to be extremely interesting to watch down the stretch.
