File this under "no surprise."  The Anaheim Ducks sent a whole bunch of young players to their AHL affiliate in Norfolk, a sure sign that there will be no training camp next week.  Lockout, here we come.  Players sent to Norfolk include Igor Bobkov, Josh Brittain, Mat Clark, Marco Cousineau, Corey Elkins, Emerson Etem, Peter Holland, Matt Kennedy, Ryan Lasch, Brandon McMillan, John Mitchell, Kyle Palmieri, Devante Smith-Pelly, Sami Vatanen and Chris Wagner.John Gibson and Ricard Rakell were assigned to their junior teams.Max Friberg and Tim Heed were sent back to their Swedish junior teams.  In addition, Dan Sexton and Jeff Deslauriers were placed on waivers, and cleared, and also joined the TSA lines at the airport to head back to Norfolk.  Normally, guys would be in Anaheim preparing for training camp, which was scheduled to start next Friday.  At this point, it would take a miracle.  Rather than spending time negotiating, compromising, and getting a deal done, more time...

Dabbling In High-End: Ryan Getzlaf 4-Color Dominion Patch /10

My love for Dominion knows no bounds. I've purchased more high-end cards in 2012 - especially Dominion - than I ever imagined I would at this point in my life and my collecting ways. I spotted this Ryan Getzlaf patch below, and it was listed as a Buy-It-Now. After vacillating for a while, I decided to go for it and scoop it up.Numbered 07/10, it was had for just over the price...

Paul McCann: In Praise of Bobby Ryan... and more

In all the spin, bluster and obfuscation in the process of coming to a new CBA, a lot of players have come out and said that they will go play in Europe or in the KHL if there is a lockout. That is their right, and it does appear that many of the players will do that, including some of the highest profile players in the NHLPA. While this may be their “right” ... I have...

Owning 20% of The Print-Run Makes Me Feel Like A Champion.

eBay has been a godsend in my attempts to acquire as many Ryan Getzlaf Dominion cards as possible. It has also reinforced how global hockey is, as I've purchased cards from sellers in the U.S., Canada, and most recently, Germany. For just $22.99 of Card Draft # 2 funds - and as the sole bidder, no less - this bad boy is now mine.Numbered 02/10, it's my second Championship...

Blue Oyster Cup.

For a couple of George Washingtons I was able to add a sweet serial-numbered parallel to my Ryan Getzlaf Collection. No autograph, no relic of any sort. Just an old-fashioned, colored and numbered parallel.Numbered 074/100, it's a blue parallel from 2010-2011 Panini Certified Champions, and features Ryan hoisting Lord Stanley's Cup. The fairly low print-run, blue color, and...
