Ducks center Saku Koivu has returned to Anaheim for tests after taking a hard hit during Sunday's game at Columbus. The Ducks recalled center Richard Rakell from the AHL on Monday. Goalie Viktor Fasth also returned to Anaheim for treatment on his lower-body injury. Koivu was knocked unconscious on a hit by Columbus' Brandon Dubinsky, who was ejected from Anaheim's 4-3 victory over the Blue Jackets. Koivu must be tested and evaluated before he is allowed to return to the Ducks, per NHL protocol. Fasth hasn't played since Oct. 16. Danish rookie goalie Frederik Andersen has won his first three NHL decisions as Jonas Hiller's backup. The 20-year-old Rakell played in four games with Anaheim last season. Anaheim is 2-2 on its eight-game road trip, which continues Tuesday in Philadelphia.

NHL Western Conference Preview 2013-2014 Season: The Pacific Still Has Anaheim but Plenty of Room for Surprise

Last season the Anaheim Ducks were the #2 seed in the Western Conference and as I had predicted they ended up losing to Detroit in the 1st round of the playoffs. Something seemed off about them to begin with Detroit have to fight until the end to make the postseason. Now they’re in the Eastern […]

Sharks Edge Ducks 6-5

Considering that it was the final pre-season game of the year and the last chance to impress, you would think the Ducks would have done better against San Jose.  They did not. Instead, Anaheim was less than impressive in the 6-5 loss.  They came close, but close only counts in hand grenades and dance contests. Things started off pretty even on the scoreboard, and then San...

Ducks-Avalanche Preview

Patrick Roy can empathize with the Anaheim Ducks' new motto, "Unfinished Business." The last time the Hall of Fame goaltender took the ice in the NHL, his Colorado Avalanche were bounced out of the 2003 playoffs in the first round after a 105-point campaign. Now entering his first season as Colorado's coach, he's looking to get the franchise headed back toward...
