IntheOT:
With the NHL lockout not appearing to end anytime soon it has forced players to start thinking of alternative things to do with their time if they had not chosen to go play in another league. One player LA Kings forward Dustin Penner decided to go an intern for Conan O’Brien’s TV show and appears to be having a great time. Recently I came across a video that shows him pulling of some stunts using his large sized 6″4 245 lb. frame to impose some physical force on others in the office producing some hysterical moments. Check out the video:Watch this video on YouTube Embedded with WP YouTube Lyte.Good for Dustin. Gotta love how he’s embraced taking on this role doing something fun when away from hockey. Many players bolt to do Europe or stay in North America playing in the minors wanting to stay in game shape and keep their skills sharp. Not Dustin and it shouldn’t be a shock based on his history during the NHL being questioned many times for his conditioning and injury due to eating pancakes. How can you blame the guy anyways? First off the Kings just won the Cup so he’s played more hockey then anyone over the past year. Moreover, he is playing down in Hollywood some of the show biz must have rubbed off on him wanting to be involved with a show of this nature.Either way nobody should question why he’s interning instead of playing hockey somewhere else. Bottom line is not everyone has maximum passion and love of hockey enjoying other fine things in life. If most of it is committed to hockey might as well take advantages of the season’s away from it. Yes season’s pluralized because anyone with over an 8 year NHL career will be locked out at least one with Bettman as commissioner. He’s 3 for 3 now in lockouts under his tenure following the expiration of CBA’s; no reason to think it would change when the fourth one expires.

Helene Hath No Fury
Forget about the fans. Who are the people that are really struggling with the lack of NHL hockey right now? Journalists!!!
I honestly think we are one more set of cancelled games away from this above...
...turning into this.
So how do you track the onset of a journalist suffering from the lack of NHL Hockey?
STEP 1: Start with a simple tweet from Dustin Penner:

Dated and biased even by my standards, but a must-read profile of Proskauer-Rose nonetheless
Yoost offering a little "for further reading": this came from Dustin Penner's Twitter account, and as you know. I'm the CNBC of bloggers when it comes to being a NHLPA liberal here, so this ain't exactly "fair and balanced" territory, but I would highly suggest that you read this dated article from the Nation's David Zirin (yes, they are very politically...
What The Players Are Saying
I would also give you what the NHL side is saying but most are not allowed to talk, even though the year is 2012.
I would like to hear what the other 22 owners think of what's going on. But they're not allowed because it's too expensive. #ChingChing #NHL
