LOS ANGELES The 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings have signed forward Dwight King to a two-year contract, Kings PresidentGeneral Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
King, 23 (turned 23 on July 5), collected 14 points (5-9=14), 10 penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating in 27 regular season games this past season. He was recalled by the Kings from the Manchester Monarchs (AHL) on February 10 after registering 29 points (11-18=29), 20 penalty minutes and plus-6 rating in 50 AHL regular season games with Manchester. At the time of his recall, King was tied for second in points and second in assists on the Monarchs.
King, a 6-3, 234-pound native of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, earned his first career NHL points (a goal and an assist) in his eighth career NHL game at Dallas on February 12.
