Although there has yet to be an official announcement made by the Penguins organization, according to Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, it is believed that Tyler Kennedy suffered a minor ankle sprain in the game against the New Jersey Devils this past Sunday afternoon. Official word of the diagnosis and prognosis of Kennedy’s injury (including how long he is expected to be out of the lineup, if any longer) is to come later this afternoon when head coach Dan Bylsma addresses the media on the issue.  It looks as though it is less serious than first thought, but we will know more later on today. Since suffering the injury, Kennedy was kept out of the lineup in the game against the Montreal Canadiens this past Tuesday and has not yet participated in practice since that time either.  He’s absent today as well, according to PittsburghPenguins.com. Be sure to check back for any updates.

Is Obstruction Back In Play?

from Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Welcome to the new NHL, which is beginning to resemble the old NHL. Scoring is down, and obstruction again is becoming a common element of play. Referees, many Penguins said, are allowing the clutching and grabbing that became ingrained in the game a decade ago to resurface. The Penguins are particularly unsettled by this because...

Grading the Game: Penguins VS Canadiens

I’m not enjoying this season’s schedule – back-to-back games, then long lapses of time in between the next game – nope, I’m not liking it at all.  What happened to games every other day?  It just lacks consistency and it disrupts my schedule as a fan, so I can’t imagine what it’s like for the players.  I realize that good teams find ways...
