I last looked at the AHL scoring race in mid-December.  At that time Justin Schultz and Jordan Eberle of the Oklahoma City Barons (Edmonton Oiler farm affiliate) were tied for the scoring lead.  I am surprised that a rookie defenceman can lead the AHL in scoring, especially when his competition is a player who scored 76 points in the NHL last season.  Thus I figured that Eberle would take over the scoring race and Schultz would fall behind him.  That is exactly what has been happening lately.   Eberle currently has 49 points and is four points ahead of teammate Schultz.  There is no other player within less than ten points of Schultz. Should the NHL fail to get its season going, Jordan Eberle winning the AHL scoring title would not be a surprise.  He is probably the most established young player ever to play in the AHL.  Of course if the NHL season does start then Eberle would be called up (and Schultz too).  This would allow some of the other career AHLers who are well back of th...
