The Rangers and Bruins are set to do battle in the playoffs for the first time in 40 years tonight. Over the past few seasons the Rangers and Bruins have grown a mutual respect for each other, as they both play the same type of game. That game being physical, winning board battles, and getting goals at even strength. They both have solid defense and an awful powerplay. This series will be won at 5 on 5. Be sure to check out all of our series preview posts, which will prep you for the next two weeks of grueling hockey.

If you score on the New York Rangers, save the puck. It doesn’t happen often.
OK, that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but the Blueshirts do play a defensive-minded brand of hockey that makes it very difficult to put pucks in the net. John Tortorella‘s squad ranked fourth in goals against during the regular season (2.3 per game) and continued its stingy play against the Capitals...
John Tortorella may give clipped answers and avoid tangential questions, but that doesn’t mean he can’t offer a fair assessment of his team.
The Rangers coach gave a short, accurate answer when asked after Thursday night’s game what went wrong for New York in its 3-2 overtime loss to the Bruins.
“We got spanked in overtime,” Tortorella told reporters.
The teams were neck...
The Boston Bruins and New York Rangers are set to collide in the semifinals of the 2013 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.
While some of us fans are still thinking about the “miracle on causeway”, the Bruins turn their attentions to the New York Rangers. The Rangers moved on to the second round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs after beating the Washington Capitals in 7 games. The Toronto...
Putting the puck past Henrik Lundqvist is a huge challenge for the Boston Bruins.
Of course, they have to get it to him first and that's a tough task against the shot-blocking New York Rangers.
''They're definitely going to be laying down to block those shots,'' Boston forward Patrice Bergeron said after practice for Thursday night's series opener. ...
The Bruins’ blue line looked much greener than usual Thursday night.
After being struck by injury late in last week’s first-round series, Boston started three rookie defensemen — Dougie Hamilton, Matt Bartkowski and Torey Krug — for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Rangers.
It was the first time since 1985 that the B’s started three first-year blueliners...
Somebody should probably tell the Bruins that they’re allowed to win games in regulation time. As long as they are winning those games, though, nobody is going to argue.
The Bruins came through with another white-knuckle victory on Thursday, getting an overtime goal by Brad Marchand to propel them to a 3-2 win in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Marchand’s tip-in...
Behold, the most random/perplexing yearbook entry of perhaps…ever?
The awesomeness that was the JR Smith Yearbook entry is quite the opposite for NY Rangers coach John Tortorella.
‘Torts’ is a pretty serious guy as it is, and from the looks of his facial expression he’s always been that way. Will we ever find out what happened in Lana’s garage?
We may never know.

A.B. Here’s a little background for those of you who don’t stalk the Boston Bruins like a few of the writers here do (online stalking only, of course):
For the past 3 years, the Boston Bruins have selected a unique fashion accessory to be worn post-game by the player of the game. The tradition started with a vintage Boston Bruins windbreaker during the 2011 Stanley Cup run and...
If you're not familiar with Game of Thrones, well then shame on you. This is a play off of "Bear and the Maiden Fair" a popular song in Westeros.
A bear there was, a bear, a bear!
All black and gold and covered in hair!
Three forwards, a goalie and a Chara bear!
They checked and scored, right to the fair!
Oh sweet he was, and pure, and fair!
The news that was all but official is not officially official, as Mike Morreale at NHL.com is reporting that Yankee Stadium will be hosting two outdoor NHL games during Super Bowl week in 2014. The Rangers will face the Devils on January 26, 2014 at 12:30pm, and then the Islanders on January 29, 2014 at 7:30pm. The Rangers will be the visiting team in both games.
Yesterday, John Tortorella made the rounds on the New York radio shows as he was a guest on the Mike Francesa radio show (WFAN 660) as well as the Michael Kay Show (ESPN Radio) to discuss the big Game 7 win vs. the Capitals and preview the Rangers conference semifinals series against the Bruins...

The Boston Bruins welcomed the New York Rangers into the TD Garden to kick off their conference semi-final series, and game 1 was exactly as advertised. It was gritty. It was physical. It was ugly. And it took extra time before the Bruins were able to take the 3-2 overtime victory. Things started out slowly as both teams seemed to be feeling each other out, this being their first...
The Bruins stunned the Maple Leafs in overtime of Game 7 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. The game was nearly out of the Bruins’ hands when they charged back and pulled the rug right out from underneath the Leafs, rallying from a 3-point deficit to win.
Many question whether or not the Bruins have enough stamina to make their way to the Stanley Cup final, but their next...
