Anders Lee, the Edina, Minn. native who played collegiately at Notre Dame, signed a two-year entry level contract with the New York Islanders on Monday.
Lee, 22, was picked by New York in the sixth round of the 2009 NHL draft out of Edina High School. Lee played for the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League before attending Notre Dame where he led the Central Collegiate Hockey Association with 20 goals and 38 points this season as a junior.
Along with another Minnesota native, Mario Lucia, Lee helped the Irish reach the NCAA tournament this season before losing to St. Cloud State in the tournament this on Sunday. Last year, Lee was a member of the Irish that advanced to the Frozen Four.
