By all accounts, Erik Karlsson is done for the rest of the season. And we're including any length of potential playoff run by the Ottawa Senators in that estimation. The early official word from the Senators is that Karlsson is out "indefinitely". The reigning Norris Trophy winner reportedly suffered a lacerated Achilles tendon injury when his ankle made contact -- unintentional or otherwise -- with Matt Cooke's skate blade in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. According to the Ottawa Sun, surgery is required and Karlsson will be in recovery into the summer. "...Two league executives told the Sun Karlsson figures to miss four to six months ..."Players who have suffered such an injury in the past have missed eight, nine months -- even longer. The Sens won't sacrifice the playing future of the 22-year-old franchise defenseman (signed until 2019) for the sake of a month or two.HockeyFanLand Fantasy Hockey Advice:Erik Karlsson lost is a big blow to the fantasy hockey owners, this is a defenseman that puts up points like a forward. adjust your lineups accordingly...For more great posts, be sure to visit HockeyFanLand.Image: Jana Chytilova/Freestyle Photo/Getty Images
