Outside the Boxscore:
Over the years on Outside the Boxscore, we've posted some pretty notable fan intrusions during sporting events but this one from last night's Calgary Flames/San Jose Sharks NHL affair is pretty darn impressive.
Check out this fan who found his way onto the ice at the Scotiabank Saddledome during the second intermission and it has been noted that he had to leap over the boards to get onto the ice.
The fan also gets credit for stripping down to his underwear as well...

THAT'S A NEW ONE
During the second intermission of Wednesday night's Calgary Flames game at the Scotiabank Saddledome against the San Jose Sharks, a fan stripped down to his briefs and jumped over the glass onto the ice. The fan made it all the way to center ice before being apprehended by security. We've seen fans run onto the field at sporting events many times, but it's extremely...
Maybe the Miikka Kiprusoff trade rumors will simmer down now that he returned from his knee injury to throttle the San Jose Sharks 4-1 after a month-long layoff.Or perhaps that stellar performance will only intensify interest in the Calgary Flames netminder, who has one year left on his current deal.Kiprusoff feels ready to shoulder a big load as his team prepares for the stretch...
Scott Gomez and Adam Burish ended long goal droughts and Joe Pavelski scored the shootout winner as the San Jose Sharks defeated the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 on Tuesday night.
Brad Stuart added two assists and Antti Niemi made 36 saves for San Jose, which won its second straight game after a stretch in which it went 2-6-4.
Gomez's goal was his first of the season and just his...
Miikka Kiprusoff made 32 saves in his return from a knee injury to lead the Calgary Flames to a 4-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday night.
Blake Comeau scored the tiebreaking goal early in the third period. Jarome Iginla, Roman Cervenka and Curtis Glencross (into an empty net) also scored for Calgary, which improved to 4-1-1 in its last six games.
Joe Thornton had...
Calgary, AB – The Calgary Flames announced today they have reassigned goaltender Danny Taylor to the Abbotsford Heat and activated Miikka Kiprusoff from injured reserve. Kiprusoff returns to the Flames line-up after recovering from a grade 2 MCL sprain suffered on February 5th against the Detroit Red Wings.
Streaking in the NHL takes some planning.

The NHL trade deadline is Wednesday, April 3, which means we’re officially less than one month away. It could be an odd trade deadline given the fact that we’re dealing with a shortened season. A lot of teams are still trying to figure out whether they are going to become competitive or whether it’s best to give up the short-term goals and focus on the future.
On that note...
Brad Stuart hasn't given anyone reason to regret that he's a Shark again, but last night he made a particular splash with some extra gritty play and a charming grin to show off the dental work he got during the game. Stuart made an excellent ambassador for a team that had just scrambled to a shootout win after dropping a two goal lead.
The Sharks were outshot (33-22 in...
On Wednesday night one of the rarities occurred in hockey, when a fan climbed over the boards and glass to get onto the ice to go running around in his boxers. How he managed to get over the boards in the corner where he was coming out from is beyond me, but he did it somehow. At least this time it was between periods when the Calgary Flames and San Jose Sharks were playing....
