The Canes have recalled defenseman Justin Faulk from the Charlotte Checkers (AHL). Faulk was assigned to Charlotte on Oct. 19, and played in three games with the Checkers during the weekend, notching a goal and earning an assist (2 points). Faulk, 19, made his NHL debut with the Hurricanes in the team’s season opener on Oct. 7 against Tampa Bay. The South St. Paul, Minn., native has played in three of the Hurricanes’ eight games this season, averaging 18:59 of ice time per game. Faulk's recall again gives the Canes eight defensemen on the roster.

What's up with Eric Staal?

Eric Staal might be tied for the team lead in goals (all three of them) but I'm sure many Hurricanes fans would agree that the captain hasn't quite looked like himself this year. He has been known as one of the game's elite centers for some time now and I believe that he'll turn things around, but his start to the year has been pretty rough no matter which way you...

'Canes have rough start to homestand

Raleigh, NC -- An annual quirk in the schedule forces the Carolina Hurricanes to hit the road for much of October, which is a grueling way to start a long, grinding season. That time has arrived, now that the North Carolina State Fair has concluded, but the Canes got the home stand off to a rough start, falling...

Stewart held out of practice

The Canes had an added defenseman and were down a forward today at their first home practice in a week. Forward Anthony Stewart was held out of practice with a lower-body injury and his status is day-to-day, coach Paul Maurice said. Stewart has been playing with the injury the past few games. While defenseman Justin Faulk was recalled today from the Charlotte Checkers (AHL), Maurice...

Hurricanes Week 2 Performances

The Canes were an even 1-1-1 last week as they ended their road trip and were able to earn five out of a possible eight points. Some would say they are lucky to come away with more than two points this week because they were outplayed in almost every game. In Boston, it took a huge first period effort from Cam Ward and some incredibly stupid penalties from the Bruins for the Canes...
