Christmas came a bit early for five area non-profit organizations that will receive part of a $40,000 donation from the Sergei Fedorov Foundation.

Think Detroit PAL, YWCA Interim House and Crime Stoppers each received $10,000, while the NOBLE Scholarship Fund and Detroit Police Foundation each received $5,000.

The organizations were announced this morning at a news conference with Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee Jr. who helped select the organizations.
