Oilers lose to Canucks 3-0 The Edmonton Oilers have lost for the last time this season, but there’s not much else that could be said on the subject.  With this loss, the Oilers finished 29th and 4 points behind the 28th placed Montreal Canadiens but oddly enough, the Oilers have one more win than the Canadiens, there’s that third point in action. But for now, all that is left is to see where Tuesday’s lottery will land the Oilers. Continue reading "Finally Finished"

Richard Cloutier: Renney's Last Day?

Rumors are swirling in Edmonton today that an announcement will be made this afternoon on the future of Tom Renney and possibly Steve Tambellini. GM Tambellini will be in Toronto tomorrow to participate in the Draft Lotto show on TSN. It's doubtful the Oilers would allow him to attend if he wasn't in the team's future. Coach Renney, like Tambellini, doesn't...

Richard Cloutier: Oilers Fail to Make Fetch Happen

About 37 seconds into tonight's Oilers/Canucks game, I came to the realization the Oilers were going to lose. Aside from Devan Dubnyk, the Oilers stuck 18 empty uniforms on the ice in Vancouver. I shouldn't say "18" empty jerseys. For about 10 minutes in the 2nd period, Ales Hemsky was making magic. The boy does own some sweet hands. Here's hoping the Hemsky...

Richard Cloutier: How Long Until Renney and Tambellini Go Bye-Bye?

Tomorrow's Oilers/Canucks game will bring to a close the 2011/2012 NHL season. The Oilers had a weird year...some really incredible moments occurred: The emergence of Jordan Eberle as a superstar; the great play of kidlet Ryan Nugent-Hopkins; the Sam Gagner 8 point night...but mostly, 2011/2012 was yet another failure for a team and fan base that should be very sick of failure...

Richard Cloutier: Who Stays? Who Goes?

So my last blog got a little interesting debate going on Twitter as to who could be gone from the Oilers roster next season, and why. Here's an expanded look at the subject: Eric Belanger - I think when the Oilers signed him, the hope was he'd be a much less expensive Horcoff. Everyone rips on Horcs, but if he was $2mil per season, Oil fans would think he's one of...

Richard Cloutier: Team Canada @ the World Championships

See? See what you've reduced me to, you awful Edmonton Oilers? I'm gonna do a blog about the World Championships. You know, that annual thing that's held in Somewhere, Europe. The thing that's not the Olympics and doesn't mean anything. We'll cut the event a break for the reason that it's being held in Sweden this year. We like Swedish people. Land...

Edmonton Oilers vs. Canucks betting odds and handicapping preview – April 7

Canucks end regular season vs. Edmonton The Vancouver Canucks will look to end their regular season on a high Saturday night when they host the Edmonton Oilers in what should be an entertaining affair. If the Canucks learned one thing on Thursday night, it is that despite their opposition’s lack of something to play for, no team should be taken lightly. Edmonton Oilers (32-39-10...
