Hey look, it's the talented Schenn sibling

This morning on Twitter, Brian Costello from The Hockey News (@bcostellothn) pimped the upcoming 2012 issue of their much ballyhooed Future Watch.

The premise of Future Watch is simple: the staff at THN ranks the 75 best prospects who are under the age of 21 and have already been drafted by a NHL team. It also gives a letter grade to each NHL organization on the strength of their system.

Per Costello's tweets:

As an organization, only the Edmonton Oilers received a higher letter grade (A+), despite the fact that they only have one prospect on the 75 player list. With their A- grade, the Senators tied the Panthers, Avalanche and Ducks but with five players on the list, they also have more quantity than any of these respective teams. For what it's worth, Minnesota led the league with six prospects but for whatever reason, the Wild only received a B+ grade.

Now by no means is this list some authoritative guide nor does it ensure that all of Ottawa's prospects will fulfill their promise. Nevertheless, it's somewhat vindicating to see a third party acknowledge the impressive collection of young talent that Bryan Murray's scouting staff has assembled.

The following tweet is just the cherry on top.

Other News of Pithy Importance:

- The NHL has fined Erik Karlsson $2,500 for his slash on Florida Panthers forward Sean Bergenheim.

- After backup netminder Tuuka Rask suffered a lower abdomen/groin strain, the Bruins inked Turco to a pro-rated contract but he has to pass through waivers before he can play for the B's. Fluto Shinzawa (Fluto?!) of the Boston Globe frets that Ottawa could go all Garth Snow/Nabokov on the Bruins and disrupt whatever success they have down the stretch by putting in a claim on goaltender Marty Turco.

One waiver wild card could be Ottawa. The Senators are without Craig Anderson, who is sidelined because of a hand injury. Although the Senators don’t necessarily need Turco, they could hurt the Bruins by claiming him. Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli is a former colleague of Ottawa counterpart Bryan Murray. Chiarelli was Ottawa’s assistant GM in 2005-06 when Murray was the coach.

Ummm, yeah. At this point in time, in consideration of Turco's age and general **********, it's probably a more worthwhile endeavour to let the Bruins play Turco in meaningful games down the stretch.
