The Calgary Flames signed goaltender Danny Taylor to a one-year, two-way contract a day after Miikka Kiprusoff had a lower-body injury in a 4-1 win over Detroit.
Kiprusoff, who left Tuesday's game after the second period, is listed day to day.
''In the second period I felt some discomfort in the lower body area,'' Kiprusoff said in a statement. ''During...
from Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail,
With Kiprusoff sidelined, the Flames get a glimpse into a future they know is coming, maybe sooner than expected.
Kiprusoff has just a year left on his contract, one of those “back-diving” deals the recent NHL-NHLPA labour dispute keyed on. In 2013-14, his salary drops to $1.5-million (U.S.) from $5-million. It is unclear if...
The Detroit Red Wings turned in another clunker at home on Tuesday night, losing to the Calgary Flames by a 4-1 count, but Jordin Tootoo again gave the Joe Louis Arena crowd at least a little something to cheer about.
Early in the first period, Tootoo and Calgary’s Steve Begin squared off in a fight off a faceoff — Tootoo’s fourth rumble of the year.
Both players landed a couple...

Calgary, AB -- The Calgary Flames announced today that Miikka Kiprusoff (lower body) is day-to-day.
"In the second period I felt some discomfort in the lower body area. During the intermission, it was decided that I not return to play. I really believe that this is a short term injury and over the next days, I'll work toward being ready as soon as possible."
I'd planned to keep things a little more businesslike than the Triple Deke at Winging it Motown (who ends up being downright eloquent) when it comes to welcoming the man who most certainly marched to the beat of his own jazz ensemble, one Jiri Hudler, back to Detroit...But even someone who's purposefully not plugged into the streams of player-related gossip and innuendo like...
The Calgary Flames insist they are a better team than their record indicates.
They can prove it by ending their recent road struggles and prevent the Detroit Red Wings from notching a fourth consecutive home victory Tuesday night.
Calgary (1-3-2) took a 2-1 lead over Chicago on Jay Bouwmeester's goal with 35 seconds left Saturday before the Blackhawks tied it with 2.3 seconds...

Mike Cammalleri, Calgary Flames
Games played: 6
2012-13 cap hit: US$6-million
What the what: Six shots. In six games, Cammalleri has managed six shots on net. He has spent most of the past three games on a line with Mikael Backlund and Lee Stempniak, but...
The Detroit Red Wings face off against the Calgary Flames tonight (7:30 PM EST, FSD, Sportsnet West, 97.1 FM) hoping to rebound from an ugly loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets while continuing to withstand more injuries (Brendan Smith is going to miss a month with a shoulder injury, Darren Helm's got an "uh oh" of a medical test coming up in the form of a bone scan on...
Updated 2x at 3:53 PM: I tried to cram an unbelievable amount of information into the Red Wings-Flames game-day update post, but the video parts didn't fit, so here's Ken Kal's game-day preview from the Wings' website, in which Kal speaks to Jimmy Howard, Danny Cleary and Niklas Kronwall about capitalizing on the Wings' home-heavy first-half schedule...
