Team got beat badly in this one, but there were a few positives to take away from this one.

Oh, and Steve MacIntyre had a goal. Seriously.

It was a whoopin’. But, not all was lost.

Steve MacIntyre scored Edmonton’s only tally early in the second. That’s great news for Steve MacIntyre, as I don’t think he’s scored more than a couple goals in the NHL ever. I think if you lined up about a hundred Oilers fans in the room, I don’t think even the drunkest guy would’ve picked Steve MacIntyre to score anything except blows to the face (which, he did) or a game misconduct for spearing (which, he also did).

But, it was a beauty tip off a shot just over the blue line. Silver linings.

And, though it didn’t do much for the scoresheet at the end of the game, there was this.

Any chances that Edmonton were able to find in the third were thwarted by something. Ales Hemsky had an exciting yet forgetful breakaway in the third, and Liam Reddox was all alone on a break that amounted to a great save by Calgary goalie Henrik Karlsson. Calgary outshot Edmonton by ten, and Jarome Iginla made the most of his opportunities netting a pair of goals.

Edmonton’s preseason schedule rounds out with a match in Calgary on Sunday before again facing the Flames in the season opener on Thursday.
