Mike Ribeiro's offseason signing with Phoenix may have turned some heads, but the Coyotes certainly are happy with his decision.
He'll look to stay hot and help Phoenix earn at least a point for the seventh straight game when it hosts the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night.
Ribeiro has recorded at least 51 points in the last eight full NHL seasons and finished with 13 goals and 36 assists for Washington in the lockout-shortened 2013 campaign.
The 32-year-old surprised many by signing a four-year, $22 million free-agent contract given the uncertainty of the franchise at the time, but the acquisition is paying dividends for the Coyotes (5-2-2).
After going without a point through three games, Ribeiro has three goals and four assists over the last six - a stretch in which Phoenix has gone 4-0-2. He scored twice in the third period of Saturday's 5-2 win over Detroit.
