Calgary Flames backup netminder Henrik Karlsson will miss the next 6-8 weeks after suffering a high-grade tear of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.Karlsson suffered the injury in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks. The 28-year-old allowed five goals on 32 shots prior to the injury.Karlsson is 0-4-1 with a 3.48 goals-against average and .895 save percentage in five games this season.Leland Irving, brought up from the club's American Hockey League affiliate earlier in the week, will serve as the primary backup to Miikka Kiprusoff. Irving, the club's first-round pick in 2006, has yet to appear in an NHL game.
