It’s amazing how quickly things can change.
During the first period of the Flames’ – Ducks’ game, I heard news that Mike Cammalleri had been pulled from Montreal’s game against Boston.
Immediately I knew he was traded; the question was where. Numerous sources stated ‘Florida’, ‘Pittsburgh’ or ‘Colombus’ as possible destinations, however I had a hunch that Calgary was the team that he was traded too.
A few minutes later, it was announced that the Calgary Flames had traded Rene Bourque to the Montreal Canadians for Mike Cammalleri. This news came as a shock to everyone in Montreal and Calgary. Montreal had just lost their second playoff hero, the first being Halak. We can only assume that the trade is due to Cammalleri’s comments last night about his teams’ poor effort. Montreal General Manager Pierre Gauthier denies this, however you don’t need to be a genius to figure it out.
Calgary sent; Rene Bourque, a 2
