The Calgary Flames parted ways with coach Brent Sutter after the team failed to make the postseason in his three seasons.The decision to make a change followed a meeting between general manager Jay Feaster and Sutter, whose contract was up at the end of June."Brent and I explored many options and ultimately determined that it is best to proceed in different directions," Feaster said. "Brent is a great person and an excellent hockey coach."Calgary went 37-29-16 this season and finished five points out of the final postseason berth in the Western Conference.Sutter led the Flames to a 118-90-38 record overall in his tenure. Calgary also announced that assistant coach Dave Lowry's contract will not be renewed.
