Scott Hartnell scored his second goal of the game with less than 1 second left in overtime to lift the Philadelphia Flyers to a 3-2 win over the Penguins on Sunday, snapping Pittsburgh's 11-game winning streak. Hartnell took a nice cross-ice feed from Danny Briere to beat Marc-Andre Fleury with 0.9 seconds left on the clock. Kimmo Timonen also scored to help the Flyers rally from a 2-0 hole against the hottest team in the NHL. Evgeni Malkin and Craig Adams each scored for the Penguins. Sidney Crosby played in the third game of his comeback following a three-month absence caused by recurring concussion symptoms. The Penguins lost for the first time since Feb. 19.

Flyers Surging at Right Time With Huge Overtime Win Over Pittsburgh

Wow. What a huge win! We were all worried it would go to a shootout, and luckily it didn’t, but who cares! All that matters is the Flyers won. They beat the NHL’s hottest team, gaining 3 points in the standings in the process.I don’t know who I hate more,  the Penguins or the Rangers.Although he gave up 2 goals, Ilya Bryzgalov once again looked sharp, making several key saves...

Flyers snap Penguins' 11-game winning streak

All-Star Scott Hartnell tallied twice - with the latter coming 4:59 into overtime - as the Philadelphia Flyers overcame a two-goal deficit to snap visiting Pittsburgh's season-high 11-game winning streak with a 3-2 victory. Defenseman Kimmo Timonen netted a power-play goal and fellow All-Star Claude Giroux notched a pair of assists for the Flyers, who improved to 8-1-1 in their...

Crosby makes immediate impact for surging Penguins

Dan Bylsma promised to keep Sidney Crosby's minutes under control as his star center eased his way back into the lineup following a three-month layoff. It might be time to take the shackles off. Crosby collected five assists during Pittsburgh's three-game road trip through New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia that saw the Penguins pull within a point of the Eastern Conference...

Tim Panaccio: No Talbot, No Lilja

Max Talbot and Andreas Lilja are OUT Sunday vs. Penguins. The FLyers are listing both as day-to-day. Lilja was struck in the throat Saturday at BOSTON with a deflected puck; Talbot fell on his right shoulder during a fight with Johnny Boychuk. The good news? Talbot doesn't have a separated or dislocated right shoulder which was feared. Flyers are calling it "upper body."

VIDEO: Claude Giroux is a baby

This happened at the end of the second period. Michalek high sticked Claude Giroux...in the shoulder: Extremely embarrassing, IMO.

Back in Bryzness + NHL94 Tourney!

A little over a month ago, if I would have told you that the Flyers would be heading into this past weekend’s brutal gauntlet of games riding a massive wave of emotional momentum caused by a record setting shutout streak by Ilya Bryzgalov, you probably would have laughed me into internet hibernation until my thirties. Furthermore, the idea of emerging from the weekend with 3 of...

PREVIEW 12:30 AM EDT In the final installment of their three-game-in-four-day gauntlet and the start of a five-game homestand, the Philadelphia Flyers (41-22-8) return to the Wells Fargo Center to take on the hottest team in the NHL, the Pittsburgh Penguins (44-21-5). The game starts at 12:30 p.m. EDT and will be broadcast nationally on NBC. This is the fourth of six meetings...

Tim Panaccio: A Point in Boston; Now Penguins

BOSTON - The Flyers didn't win a shootout in the afternoon - they can't win in the afternoon period _ but they picked up a valuable point in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Bruins. And they had to do it without Max Talbot and Andreas Lilja, both of whom were injured. Talbot has a right shoulder injury and we believe Lilja was struck in the throat off a deflected shot...

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Comeback Kids

One thing about the 2011-12 Flyers: They never quit and never stop competing, even when they get outplayed by top opponents for long stretches of games. Now that the club is also getting top-notch goaltending from Ilya Bryzgalov, their ability to come back if they do trail in the game bodes very well for the rest of the stretch run and playoffs. If you look at the Flyers'...

John Toperzer: GAMEDAY! Third Atlantic Division Regulation Win in Four Days?

Pens (44-21-5, 20-13-3 road) at Flyers (41-22-8, 18-10-5 home), Wells Fargo Center, 12:30 pm EDT Follow me on Twitter @JohnToperzer - Are we happy with Tyler Kennedy? He played an active game Saturday but failed to score for the 21st time in 22 games and that’s basically what he gets paid to do. He certainly shoots enough. Linemate Sidney Crosby was unhappy that he...
