Philadelphia Flyers center Danny Briere will miss Wednesday's game against his former team - the Buffalo Sabres - with an upper body injury.
The Flyers also announced that rookie forward Matt Read will miss the team's next two contests with an upper-body injury. He'll be sidelined for Wednesday's game versus the Sabres and Thursday's contest against the New Jersey Devils.
Briere certainly looked healthy when he scored two goals and collected two assists during Thursday's wild 9-8 loss to the Winnipeg Jets. He then missed Saturday's 5-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes.
The 34-year-old Quebec native has recorded four goals, six assists and 14 penalty minutes this season for the Flyers, who have lost four of their last six contests.
Read has collected three goals and four assists in 11 games.
Philadelphia recalled defenseman Ben Holmstrom and forward Harry Zolnierczyk from Adirondack of the American Hockey League.
