It's been a long, long time since the Flyers had a shutout. 85 games to be exact. It's only fitting, then, that the supposed savior between the pipes ends the drought. Through the first two games of the 2011-12 regular season, the Flyers have looked like a faster and hungrier team than last year's squad. They have forechecked aggressively, defended well and received strong goaltending from new addition Ilya Bryzgalov. We all wondered what how the new look Flyers would come out of the gates. So far so good.
Ilya Bryzgalov once again was stellar, earning the first shutout for the orange and black since May 10 of 2010.
The three Flyers goals were scored by Claude Giroux, Matt Read, and Wayne Simmonds. Read's goal was the first of his NHL career.

Flyers and NHL fans alike all have to admit what I admitted to myself last night. It's strange to see Jagr in a Philadelphia Flyers uniform.
I know it's been several months since he signed with the Flyers but seeing him out on the ice in Orange and Black was just a little strange. I don't want to say that I got this feeling up my leg like Chris Matthews but...
