We all wondered what how the new look Flyers would come out of the gates. So far so good.
Ilya Bryzgalov once again was stellar, earning the first shutout for the orange and black since May 10 of 2010.
The three Flyers goals were scored by Claude Giroux, Matt Read, and Wayne Simmonds. Read's goal was the first of his NHL career.
In typical Flyers/Devils fashion, there was some rough stuff. Simmonds got the best of David Clarkson. Video of the fight after the jump.

It's been a long, long time since the Flyers had a shutout. 85 games to be exact. It's only fitting, then, that the supposed savior between the pipes ends the drought. Ilya Bryzgalov stopped all 20 shots he faced as the Flyers blanked the Devils, 3-0, to remain unbeaten through two games. Ilya Bryzgalov turned aside all 20 shots he faced as the Philadelphia Flyers spoiled Peter DeBoer's debut as coach of the New Jersey Devils with a 3-0 road triumph on Saturday.
Signed to a nine-year, $51 million deal in the offseason, Bryzgalov secured his 24th career shutout by stopped seven shots in the first period, 10 in the second and just three in the third.

Through the first two games of the 2011-12 regular season, the Flyers have looked like a faster and hungrier team than last year's squad. They have forechecked aggressively, defended well and received strong goaltending from new addition Ilya Bryzgalov. The newcomers have all looked good so far, and the youngsters have infused some more energy into the team.

Flyers and NHL fans alike all have to admit what I admitted to myself last night. It's strange to see Jagr in a Philadelphia Flyers uniform.
I know it's been several months since he signed with the Flyers but seeing him out on the ice in Orange and Black was just a little strange. I don't want to say that I got this feeling up my leg like Chris Matthews but...
