This Philadelphia Flyers fan decided to go hard on St. Patty's Day, and now he will forever be known as the "I love balls" guy.
Tomorrow night's game in Tampa Bay will be a special one in the career of Flyers' defenseman Kimmo Timonen. On the same day he celebrates his 38th birthday, Timonen will suit up in the 1,000th regular season game of his NHL career.
In so doing, Timonen will become the 281st player in NHL history to reach that coveted milestone of longevity. Among Finnish NHL players,...
from Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer,
Laviolette has become a hot-button topic because the Flyers have underachieved in this lockout-shortened season. The fact they have played the most murderous schedule in the NHL - 29 games in 56 days, seven sets of back-to-back contests - hasn't helped.
Here's the thing: The schedule now loosens considerably. Counting...

The Lightning were outshot 30-27 by the Philadelphia Flyers but their aggressiveness proved to be too much to matchup with. Goalie Anders Lindback got the start in net for the Bolts and stopped 28 of 30 shots to help Tampa Bay win 4-2. Steven Stamkos contributed big Monday night. Stamkos got his 200th goal, albeit an empty net, to make him the third fastest to reach that mark among...

In the final game before a five day lay-off the Flyers went into Tampa Bay in yet another “must-win” situation and lost, 4-2. The Flyers came out swinging early, finishing checks and pushing the pace, earning several scoring chances- their best on a fore-check turnover forced by Max Talbot, getting the puck back to [...]
Given the precarious state of the Philadelphia Flyers' playoff hopes, the team will take two points any way it can get them. That's especially true when the opponent is a team such as the New Jersey Devils, which brought a seven-game winning streak against the Flyers (dating back to the 2012 playoffs) into last night's game.
Every point matters -- and the Flyers were...
In a completion of the home and home series, the Philadelphia Flyers were able to come away with a much needed home win keeping their slim but possible playoff hopes alive. Thanks to superb play from the goalie Ilya Bryzgalov who stopped 27 of 28 shots, the Flyers came away with a 2-1 win over the New Jersey Devils.
Johan Hedberg stopped 21 of 22 of his shots, but was unable...
In yet another “must win” situation the Flyers will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning in hopes of going into a six day break in the schedule on a high note. The Flyers are coming off of a rare shootout win over the Devils on Friday, 0-7 all-time against New Jersey in shootout before Friday’s [...]
