That team, the 2-5-0 New York Rangers, desimated by injury, were just what the doctor ordered for the 1-7-0 Flyers. Once again, the Flyers failed to score more than two goals in the game. But two would be enough for the second time this season, as the Flyers held off the Rangers for a 2-1 win on Thursday night at Wells Fargo Center. The Flyers tallied first, scoring at 9:07. While shorthanded, Matt Read came up with a steal a beat Rangers goalie Cam Talbot, making his NHL debut. The Rangers would tie the game with just over a minute remaining in the first. Brad Richards fired a bad-angle shot toward the net and it was deflected off of Braydon Coburn and past Steve Mason. A chippy second period between the two rivals added a spark to the game.
