The Flyers seemed to not realize that the strike was over and the new 2013 season had started. They got out shot 11-6 and outscored 2-0 in the first period in front of a Happy to be Back Philly crowd of 19,994 (102.5% full).
The two goal margin was enough to carry the Penguins as the Flyers could not sustain much offense the rest of the way. The biggest problem the Flyers had was their face-off wins which were few and far between. Lost face-offs led to the Pens first two goals.
The Flyers need to bounce back quickly as they play the Sabres today at 12:30 pm.
The season is too short to let games like this get away. Especially at home.
