Once again, the goaltending position is the spotlight in Philadelphia. No longer in a starring role, but the spotlight is between the pipes regardless.

The Flyers traded backup goalie Sergei Bobrovsky to the Columbus Blue Jackets for three draft picks. Columbus sent the 45th pick (second round) and 117th pick (fourth round) in the 2012 draft along with a fourth-round pick in the 2013 draft.

Bobrovsky, 23, appeared in just 29 games this past season, going 14-10-2 with a 3.02 goals-against average.

The young Russian had an impressive rookie year but was never shy about saying he wants to be a starting goalie in the NHL. With the Blue Jackets, he'll get that chance.

To back up starting goalie Ilya Bryzgalov, the Flyers will likely find a veteran journeyman backup once free agency begins on July 1. Two of the names being talked about are former Flyer Martin Biron and Scott Clemmensen.

The return for Bobrovsky seems high for general Paul Holmgren and the Flyers, who might just be warming up the trigger finger when it comes to trades. Holmgren has developed a reputation for making a big splash at the draft.

The Flyers are reportedly interested in trading for Cherry Hill, N.J. native Bobby Ryan, who plays for the Anaheim Ducks. Holmgren also told reporters that he "may have something cooking" after he was seen chatting with Nashville GM David Poile.
